Does anyone know anything about the SIG MPX? For example, when it is too be released? If they will offer any version of it to the public with proper paperwork, etc. I wouldn't mind having a pistol version of one of these and then send it in to have a stock put on it. I just cannot really find any info on them hardly.

This is a gun I'd really like to own. As I was searching around for info on it a while ago I read that Sig had no plans for civilian release until 2014. I obviously have no way to confirm or deny that. In fact I cannot even remember where I read that. So take it for what it is worth. If someone has solid info on the MPX I'd love to hear it.

Never heard of it. That is why I love this place. Learn something new everyday

Yep. I love this place to and I learned about the SIG MPX looking around trying to decide between a Kriss Vector, a PS90, and an UMP clone. I have always wanted an MP5 but its simply out of he question financially to have the real deal simply because I probably couldn't afford to feed it. So, when I was looking at those other options I came across the MPX. However, I would only want one in an SBR version. Having one at 16" seems kind of stupid if you ask me. I also want one to be different. Sure it's more feasible to just get a lower, send it off for engraving, then get a shorty upper but that wouldn't be as fun or as different. I like to be different :). I sure hope they decide to release to the public because I will be buying one for sure.

A SIG MPX with a 16" barrel chambered in 357 SIG would be nasty. Think of the muzzle velocities you'd be getting.

I called Sig a couple weeks ago asking about it. The rep said that they had been told the MPX-C would be released end of third quarter to fourth quarter. I also asked if Sig had plans for mags for restricted states and he said that Sig will offer 10/20/30 rnd mags for the MPX.

I just hope the keep the C model like they showed at shot. With the awesome muzzle brake.

I thought the idea behind the C model was that the 9.5 inch "muzzle brake" was actually just a suppressor baffle stack without the outer tube. After you purchased a C model you could fire the weapon with just the "muzzle brake" while you were waiting for your form 4 to come in on the tube...

I'd like to have one in .40, I wonder if wally world 180 gr .40 would still be subsonic out of a 6.5" barrel? I probably won't have to worry about that though, $2k is kinda steep for a PCC in my book.

Yeah, I don't know if that was SIGS intention or now with that brake. I really like them but to me to have one at 16" it kind of defeats the purpose of having such a weapon. if it was meant to be suppressed like someone mentioned then that kind of makes sense in a way but that is the only way I would go with such a barrel length. Otherwise, I would be getting this version and swapping the barrel down to something shorter. However, for an initial price of $2000 it would be much cheaper to go another route. I really do like them though.

Yeah, I don't know if that was SIGS intention or now with that brake.

The buzz on the internet surrounding the MPX-c seems to suggest that offering a tube kit plus an end cap to convert the rifle to integrally suppressed is Sig's intention.

Over on silencertalk.com. SRI even suggested that Sig was considering a price point of around $279 for the tube + cap.

I really don't think you would come up that much cheaper trying to replicate MPX on your own. To get a similarly compact package, you would either have to buy an integrally suppressed rifle/upper, or have a rifle/pistol SBR'd, then go and buy a pistol can sans Nielsen device and have it registered. Not saying I plan on buying what amounts to an admittedly awesome $2.5k toy, but if it can be converted to an integrally suppressed setup for relatively cheap, it may not actually be that bad of a deal.

A SIG MPX with a 16" barrel chambered in 357 SIG would be nasty. Think of the muzzle velocities you'd be getting.

Probably not terrific. The bullet was really designed for a four inch barrel and increasing the barrel, especially to 16", would provide a rapidly diminishing rate of return.

The MPX-C is the truly interesting version. It appears to have silencer baffles attached to the end of the barrel so that one can pay their $200 and slide a housing over it for an insta-silencer with just one tax stamp. I'm just speculating here but I don't know why else they would stick a 9.5" "muzzle break" on the end.

Yes, the baffles on the last 9.5 in of the barrel are exactly that, pre-made suppressor baffles that only requires a slide-over tube and end cap. For the arguments/doubts about a 16in barrel for pistol calibers, it's not a 16in barrel. It is 6.5 in, and without the suppressor the baffles are considered to be a permanent 9.5in muzzle brake. Excessive, yes, but it would appear that Sig is trying to make it easy and cost effective to suppress(through them of course).

Sorry to bump this but I just now saw the MPX-C and I am in love. Not with the price of course (seeing places take pre-orders at 2k), but I've been looking for a pistol caliber carbine, and to see this one come basically begging to be suppressed, I mean preinstall the baffles making a SBR legal? Genius.

Anyone know when it is hitting the market? I am sure the initial rush will keep it at 2k and well out of my range.
