Sig or Glock in .45ACP for Carry?

GLOCK 36 is the best 45 Caliber conceal carry gun

Well it depends on your preferred method of carry but consider this ---

You want a 45 which has unwavering reliability and ease of use. It features a small form factor and small grip which will easily ride in an inside the waistband holster such as a clip-on SoftArmor holster. Or you can convert this small sized grip into full sized grip for open carry purposes by using the Pearce +1 magazine extender.

Dont buy your next .45 until you have thoroughly considered the Glock 36.

Looks like someone has stumbled into this ancient cave again.

After looking at the dates, I'm going to be posting here again next year to keep the necro-bump going.

It's getting to be a chronic issue with this one.

The thread is still relevant despite the thread's age. If age is important, then the Mods need to lock all threads older than a year or two. People are still wrangling with the high capacity 45 versus the single stack 45. The Springfield XDS, Glock 36, 1911s with Officers length frames, and SIG P220 Compact seem to be the best options. Also consider the HK USP 45 Compact and the S&W M&P 45 Compact.

I have both and carry both.

Double strike capability is not an issue for me. I do not factor it into my decision.

The SIG P220 is a bit more narrow. It is shorter with a flush magazine (7+1 capacity), but taller than a Glock 21 with an eight round magazine inserted. The single stack magazines conceal better than G21 magazines (which tend to print).

The G21 is a very large gun through the grip (width). The slide is also wide with a square shape. It carries well with the right holster. The true advantage of the G21 is the 13+1 capacity and availability of Ghost 3.5# connectors. The trigger requires less work than a stock P220 trigger. The Gen4 frame allows just about any shooter to hold it comfortably.

Of the two, I prefer the SIG P220. I prefer the feel of the gun over the wide "runway" appearance of the G21 slide. However, I believe the Glock 21 Gen4 is a better gun overall.

Forward cant to the holster is essential if you are going to carry either gun concealed. You will have to dress around the gun. Glock 21 magazine carriers require thin materials. Buy single carriers for all guns because they conceal better. The dual holder does not match the curve of the hip properly.

SIG P220 has a slide that is slightly more narrow (minus the slide release). Grip width is about the same.

A huge difference in magazine thickness. Consider the thickness of the carriers before purchase.

P220 is slightly taller with the eight round magazine inserted.

Kind of relevant, but then it's also fair to say that the OP has had his question answered several times over. Still, if it stays relevant, I see no reason to close it. I am gonna consult other mods though.

With all the new carry options it's nice to be reminded the search for the perfect carry (personal preference I know) is still there. And there are some new players. Someone mentioned something about a "shield" this year...dunno if you all have heard anything. Supposed to be the next bug thing.

Also, would this fall into "zombie" category having risen from the dead? It could get a cult following.
