I’ve long regretted selling my P239 and just picked up this older but hardly used P229 in .40. Lots of fun shooting some old 180g reloads today. Target was shot DA/SA at 7y fairly quickly doing El Presidente drills.

Not sure when it was made but it came with one Clinton Ban mag marked 96’.

I have a Legion 229. It’s wonderful, and probably my absolute favorite. I haven’t had a 229 in 40, I do have a 226 in 40, which is fun to shoot. Yours looks like you shoot it very well!

My 229 (and one I had some years before that) is definitely my favorite .40S&W pistol. Quite fun to shoot, accurate, reliable, and comfortable at the range.

Sure looks like you are putting them where it counts @Peakbagger46 , nicely done.

I’ve never owned a P-229, but the ones I held were good looking, solid guns. I had a Robar-tuned P-226 for several years, and still have a P-228 9mm, so I still can get the metal-framed SIGSauer itch scratched on occasion. :)

It looks like your gun fits your hands as well as mine does, that shooting you were doing is some excellent stuff. Keep it up!

Stay safe.

My first choice for home defense: my SIG P229R

I got my first Sig, a 227 last December. I didn't know what all the fuss was about Sig's until I shot it the first time. I was impressed to say the least. Enjoy your 229. Made me want to look for one.

Sigs are good shooters. I really like the E2 grips over the screw on panels.

Put 50 more rounds through her today. The below dot drill (shot at only 5y) was humbling.

I may qualify with this here soon and use it for wintertime carry. My P365XL is a fine gun but there’s something special about an all metal hammer fired arm in my favorite carry round.

Not to hijack this thread, but Tallball are you going with the Bar-Sto conversion barrel?

Sorry so slow to reply. Yes, I'm going to order a Bar-Sto conversion barrel and get a couple of 9mm mags. I already have a CZ75 and 1911 in 9mm. The P229 is my other favorite service pistol. Might as well have all three in 9mm so they're affordable to shoot. :)

Qualified with it at work today (think I actually shot it better than my duty Glock with the reflex sight). Came home with a 50 round box of 180g Ranger bonded for carry. Time will tell how often I decide to carry it over the 365XL. IMG_4087.jpeg
