Looking to buy one for an iwb carry. Not sure if the P229 will be to much (ie: bulk, printing, etc..), rather not do owb for obvious reasons. Does anyone carry one iwb on a daily basis?? Thanks in advance...

Definitely a 239. One thing, I find the finger groove Hogue grips that you see more often than not to be somewhat questionable for carry. They tend to be a bit oversized, and sticky, not something that I have found particularly desirable. While it was a close call, I recently went back the the factory grips.

I carry a 228 and a 239. I think the 239 disappears a little easier for carry, but they both are about the same comfort. My 229 is stainless, so it's not super comfortable to carry, but I will carry it from time to time as well.

I have both a P229 and a P239. I carry the P229 on a daily basis IWB with no problems.

The size difference between the P229 and the P239 is really slight, and the P229 gives you half again or more the on board ammo.

It really depends on how big you are and what kind of clothing you normally wear.

My P229 is a bit too big & thick for me, but it doesn't mean that the "next guy" can't make his dissapear.

i have the 228 and the 225 (forerunner to the 239) and actually like carrying the 228 better.

of course i carry it OWB, so i'm not too sure what the obvious reason not to is. all it takes is a good belt and a holster that carries high and tight

The size difference is not all that much, but I have noticed that the arc of the trigger pull ends much closer to my hand with a P239; too close, I believe, to deliver accurate shots in a big hurry. I carry P229 duty pistols, and can fire fast and accurately. (relatively speaking, of course; I am no expert shot) It also makes logistical sense to carry on my own time what I carry at work. (I must buy my own duty weapons, and the P229 and P226 are on the "approved" list for primary duty pistols; the P239 is not, but is OK for CC on my own time.) I have fondled a few P239s, and admired their slimness, but never felt they were smaller enough than my P229s to really matter.

I am 6' tall, with a 31" waist, so I am not a big guy, yet I conceal TWO P229s most of the time, usually one OWB and one IWB. P229s are EASY to conceal. I have CC'ed S&W N-frames, GP100s, and a box of Wheaties, er, I mean, a Glock G22, all quite chunky guns compared to a P229. Hint: Glocks are the most difficult to hide, being not only wide, but with slides that extend so far to the rear, to contain the striker mechanism. I found it easier to conceal a 5" 1911 than a G27.

Just saw the part about Hogue grips; yes, Hogue rubber grips tend to stick to many cover garments, which totally spoils concealment.

I am having bit trouble with the IWB holster.. I am beefy kind of guy but not tall.. 5,9" 40Waist , mostly muscle.. But the IWB feels like it is jabbing me all the time. Maybe i am just not good with CC and need some practice/experience. However, I just think the fatness of the gun is a problem which is most noticeable when I am sitting down on a site. I think I would have to wear very baggy clothes also not to have this gun noticeable.

I am considering getting a shoulder holster to make this gun easier to carry around. I have a pocket gun which I can use for those very quick SHTF scenario, where reaching for my shoulder holster is not practical.

IT really sucks, because I want to carry my Sig P229 and have quick access to it. I dunno but perhaps I need to invest in some light sweaters. Problem is where I live it is around 30-50F most of the year and even though its cold outside, most places you go heat up the buildings around 75F and I easily sweat. It gets dang hot wearing sweaters or multiple clothing to hide your gun. I am faced with major dilemma.

You really have to give the IWB type holsters a bit of time. They will not feel right at first, until you find your comfort spot and give your body time to get used to it. Once you do, I think you'll find it to be very comfortable and will only notice it when its not there. It usually doenst take long, and you may or may not want to go up a pant size, depending if what you wear now is already to tight. I wear my normal size and while its a little snug at first, the material quickly gives and the gun moves around less as the pants help keep everything in place.

The IWB type holster is the most concealable holster going, as nothing shows below the belt and the gun is held in tight against the body. For full size guns, nothing hides the gun easier or better. Shoulder holsters on the other hand, tend to be very easy to spot, and from numerous angles. They take a lot more work with less returns.

Due to the thickness of the grip, I generally only carry mine when the weather is cool enough for cover garments. In all other respects, it is a great compromise of weight, size, capacity and utility.

I'm 6' 2" and 210#. I carry the SIG 229 in an OWB pancake holster with no problem.

In Colorado, I typically dress for CCW with an outer jacket when it's cool, so concealment isn't much of an issue.

I carry a SIG 239 in the summer when people are wearing lighter clothes, and I wear a lot of Hawiian shirts to keep it easy.
