About a year and a half ago i was looking for a new carry gun. I always carried snub nose revolvers, maybe a Makarov once in a while. I had owned a few small 9mms including a PF( but was never impressed. I was going to buy a S&W airweight but I noticed the P938 at the gun shop and decided to have a look. Loved the feel of it and the look so I picked it up for about $700.

I couldn't be happier with it. It feels great in the hand and for how small it is the recoil is not bad at all. Nothing like a straight blow back pistol and I have no problem putting a few boxes threw it without any pain.

It's accurate at 25 yards. I have no problem hitting a 6" steel plate at that range. The sights are good and were nearly zeroed out of the box.

The only issues I had were with the magazine. The extended mag had an issue of jamming when loading the first round. The problem was due to a very stiff mag spring. I left it loaded for a while and this seems to have fixed it. I haven't had an issue with it for a long time but it was a problem when i first got it.

The only other issue is the flush fitting mage changes the feel of the gun a lot. Without your pinky holding the gun down you get a lot more rotation. I highly suggest only using the extended mag.

I had the SAS and Equinox models for a while. They're nice guns, but I always thought of the P238 as the better of the two. Traded them towards a Sig Ultra 1911 9mm. It's just more accurate, softer, and has more capacity than the 938/Micro 9. Speaking of Micro 9s, the flush mag for the Kimber will work in the Sig, but the extended mag will not.

I ordered a Micro 9 Raptor, can't wait to try it out.

The OPs experience with the sig pretty much mirrors mine. I have been carrying the 938 Extreme for a few months and have put a good amount of my own handloads through it. Very reliable and easy to shoot. With a crimson trace laser on it the short sight radius doesn't hinder my shooting at all. Great design and execution by sig, gives me a gun that it extremely concealable but shoots like a full size.
One nice feature that I had no idea about before buying it is that the safety does not lock the slide, so a round can by cycled in or out of the chamber with the safety engaged.

In its size category (almost pocket gun size) it is a good choice indeed. When I shoot mine, I only use the extended magazine on my P938, as well. It's a good little back-up pistol but I would almost never carry it as a primary carry gun.

Generally, I rarely ever pull mine out of the safe. I prefer to carry a pistol that would be my first choice of what to have in my hands - should there come a day so dark that I would have to pull my pistol in defense.

If I'm going to carry IWB, which I always do, then it is very easy for me to carry much more capable pistols. I prefer a mid-size carry gun such as the SIG P320 40 Compact, with 13+1=14 rounds of 180 gr. Federal HST.

So, my little PM9 and P938 sit silently in the safe. I keep them around, though, for the rare circumstance where it is difficult or impossible for me to carry a larger, more capable pistol.

I wear shorts and t-shirt nearly all year around and with a good gun belt and holster find concealing and carrying mid-size and full-size pistols to be easy.

I have seen them and the build quality is very good. Too bad it is a single-action pistol with a tiny safety lever.

When I have to pocket carry, that's what's in my pocket. The tritium sights are a very nice touch. Can't do the extended mag in my pocket, but recoil is manageable with the short grip. My only complaint about it is disassembly and reassembly-- I have to grab a pen or something to push the slide lock out, and the slide has to be very precisely positioned to get it back in. Considering that I'm holding the slide back against the spring with one hand all the while, I really need three hands to do it.

The trigger started out at 6.5 lbs., but after a couple hundred rounds, is down to 4.75.

The 938 is the 9mm, right? They also have a similarly named model which is a .380, I believe that's the 238, is that right?

They are great little guns for sure. I try not to carry mine much because it just disappears and I forget its there in a kydex IWB. It gets too easy to carry everyday and I like to carry something a bit larger for EDC. I also have a kydex "trigger guard" that snaps on and it rides like a champ AIWB.

With the short mag in it will ride in my boot for when I am on my bike if the woman wrapped around me doesn't like having a gun tucked in so intimately if I have a larger 9 IWB.

The interweb warriors found the trigger to be bad but as said mine was a little rough at first but with a little cleaning and some rounds it is quite nice for what it is.

What really impressed me for such a small gun was it passed my HP test on the first outing. I have a bowl of random HPs that have been pulled out of carry in the past. I grab a handful and load them up. Might be 115, 124, 147 all different brands and it ran 4 mags flawlessly.

The finish on the frame is good, no issues other than rub marks on high points that I expect on a carry gun.

Yes, the P238 is the .380 model and the 938 is the 9mm. I have a P238 and much like my Colt Mustang it's a great little gun to carry and easy to shoot.

I love my P 938, it is an easy pistol to carry but more important it is easy to shoot and accurate at defensive ranges with natural pointing abilities. I also have three P 238's that echo their big brother as a carry pistol. I too use the extended mag in both 938 ansd 238, as mentioned before it gives that extra bit of hold needed for natural pointing.
When carrying a Kydex IWB holster in the appendix position works for me, being very comfortable to rhe point one rarely is conscious of the fact that it is there.....but is if needed in an emergency situation.
The P 938 and P 238 are totally reliable pistols and i have no concerns about defense when carrying any one of them. My Kimber Micro Carry is basically the same pistol as is the old Star DK ( which was the first of the true pocket carry sub guns) and FI model D all of which shoot reliabily. Oh yes don't forget the G 42 as another fine little pistol to have on your person if ever needed.
I am a fan of the small .32 /380 / 9mm pistols and have collected two or three dozen of them over the years, however, the P 938 and P 238 are among my favorites.

I purchased a Sig P938 to carry on the days where my back is so bad that carrying my LW Commander sized 1911 hurts. Once in a while if I need to make a quick trip to the hardware store I'll pocket carry it. Mostly it just sits on the shelf and waits. I prefer to carry a .45 and I prefer a 1911.

I think you mean a locked breech pistol rather than a straight blowback. The latter is like the Walther PPK and PP where the barrel is fixed and does not tilt. I have a P238 which is a locked breech, or the Browning system.

Well, I'm in agreement with the OP that the P-938 is a great carry pistol. And yes, as tipoc notes, it's not a straight blow-back pistol; the mini-SIGs are locked-breech operating systems. My (actually the wife's) 238 has a fantastic trigger; my 938's, not so great, but it's exceptionally accurate for a small pistol and thoroughly reliable. Great concealed carry pieces. The SIGLite night-sights are about the best sights you'll ever find on such small pistols, the magazine capacity is more than adequate, the slides are easy to rack, the triggers good ... What's not to like?

I picked hot he P938 Blackwood last night for $550.00. I am impressed and have not even shot it. I can't wait to get it to the range. I will not be hanging up my 1911 .45, but this will be a back up on certain days and when I have to go to those places that that pass out at guns or bulges it will be nice to carry deep. I also have never had a pistol I comfortably carried in a tucked holster so I am looking forward to try this one out.
