I'm selling a deer rifle I don't use and was offered a Sig P938 Equinox. All reviews are pretty positive and could work out to be a good deal.

However, I already have a Ruger sr9c. Both have similar features so I don't think going back and forth would be an issue.

What I'm wondering about is whether it's a good idea to have two carry guns that are different, if only slightly.

Also those of you who own the Sig, or it's little brother, think about maybe carrying it in an ankle holster?

Thoughts? Comments? Wisdom?

Thanks,
Ryan

The only thing similar between the P938 and the SR9c is they both fire the 9mm round.

I like both guns but they are completely different trigger systems and size.

Personally I can't imagine having as large and heavy a gun as the SR strapped to my ankle, but that's just me.

Mag release and manual safety are in the same spots is what I mean by that.

My other point was the trigger, the one compliant I hear regularly about the Sig is it's trigger, whereas the Rugers trigger is very nice.

I couldn't imagine strapping the Ruger to my ankle either, and I don't. I was referring to the Sig in an ankle holster.

I have an SR9 and a P238 and although the triggers are different I like them both. I never use the safety on the SR, but rarely carry it, it sits between the seat and center console in my car.

I've worn my P238 in an ankle holster, it works ok, though it's not the most comfortable way to carry and I'm not a big fan of ankle carry. Too slow and difficult to access. I usually only ankle carry when I'm carrying my P238 as a second gun.

That's exactly what I was thinking, I already have a nice holster broken in for my Ruger, and am comfortable with that setup.

I don't plan on carrying two guns often, but in the rare occasion I have to go to the butt crack of green bay or a new city it would be nice to have the option. Especially since I cannot find a way to comfortably carry an extra mag for the Ruger.

Did you carry the Ruger before you got the Sig or vice versa? I wonder if alternating between two carry guns is a good idea.

So this guy wants to give me his p938 equanox, with two mags and $85 for my almost new tikka t3 lite with a 3x9 Nikon Buckmaster bdc scope and 3 boxes of ammo

Would you take it?

A what caliber is your t3 lite b what condition is his 938 in does it come with night sights has he tried to mess with it any have you looked up what a sig p938 goes for? Do you think it's a fair trade?

Tikka is a .270, used but flawless. $679new. Scope is $240 new.

938 Equinox comes with the night sites. He says slight wear. Bought it for his girl friend and she didn't like it.

Sig goes for $695-$715 new. Except for cabelas, which wants $799.

I was considering it, but reading my last post it doesn't seem as reasonable anymore.

Rifle+ scope+ ammo= $1000
Sig + extra mag= $750

Granted those are new prices, but my tikka is flawless and the Sig is not.

I have a Ruger SR9c and a SIG P238. Like them both but in different applications. A SIG P938 would be slightly larger than the P238 but definitely more compact and concealable than the SR9c. I guess it depends on how you view your CCW needs. If the SR9c already serves you well in that regard, then I wouldn't make the trade. But if your looking for more options in terms of different carrying scenarios (i.e. ankle holster), then the P938 would be a great choice for those situations, and I would make the trade.

Oh man what an event! Got him to rifle, scope, and 3 boxes of cheap ammo for his Sig, extra mag, and $150.

He tells me he'll do $120 and I said fine but I keep the ammo. He said no deal and I said alrighty then.

20 mins later he comes back and agrees to the $150. Made the deal a couple hours ago.

I love the way this all steel gun feels, so solid.

On a side note, who sells a dirty gun? It wasn't bad and the first thing I'm gonna do is take it apart anyway because I'm weird like that but still.

Nice looking P938, even if it is a little dirty. Apparently he didn't really care too much about it after his girlfriend turned it down. Eagerly awaiting your range report.
