Sig Sauer P225, Swiss edition

Hi all,

Tonight I picked up a used, but in very nice condition Sig P225 9mm at Gander Mountain. The store had several on display and I grabbed the one in the best condition. This one has the European style magazine release, import marks and "Montage Suisse" stamped below the P225. Anyone know whether these Lenzberg-assembled P225s were issued to the Swiss military or to the police? Does this variant of the P225 go back to the 1970s? The serial number is M5474XX. I have heard that these are swiss police trade ins. The datecode can be found on the bottom of the slide right where it meets the frame, it should be a two letter code. Nice find.
