The SIg Sauer P938 has been out in the marketplace for about a month. Has anyone fired one and what is your response to it. I am thinking of buying an Extreme model as the pinky support is needed, (Plus a seven vrs six mag). I can't imagine what reason(except for greed) the $650-$750 dollar gun ships with only one magazine. Anyway, that notwithstanding, accuracy, feel, reliability? Anyone? This will be my summer carry gun and my second in the winter. Might even fit in the pocket. :)

I'm interested, but given the teething problems of the P238 I won't be the first on my block to buy one.

It really has no chance to replace my Kahr PM40 for carry, but I fancy guns small for their caliber, so they make up a large percentage of my collection.

I have one, the extension mag will fit any model not just the extreme. Mine has been 100% I have about 375rds thru it now and not one bobble. Only problem is sights on mine. They shoot 5" high at 7yds. It groups very well though. Fit and finish is excellent. The cut checkering on front strap will eat up your finger with a lot of shooting (sharp). Overall its a very good CCW in my opinion. It fits in both my holsters for the 238 also.

Its sharp but manageable. I have a PF9 and its much better than it for recoil and back on target.

Pat701 Have you shot two fingers on and one under mag? Its very comfortable for most people, unless its a magnum. I like it.

Just fired 225 rounds of FMJ, including 25 rounds of Hornady +P. 3 failures to return to battery on FMJ.

I field stripped it and lubed it prior to taking it out. Magazine and spring was still quite stiff. On the last 20 rounds, it was going exactly into the black at 7 yards. I tried one box at 25 yards, not too tight of a grouping, (likely me, not the gun), but the trigger is still pretty heavy/ stiff compared to the 238 which was buttery smooth. No problems with this gun so far at 15 yards and in. I was hitting about 2.5" freehand at 7 yards.

Compared it to the 238 with Buffalo Bore 90 grain +P and the 238 actually stung more than the 9mm at plus P, which did not sting. No snappiness as described. Controllable with strong or weak handed shooting.

It fed my JHPs reliably. I could almost say that it's ready for carry but I don't have a backup magazine and I want to shoot another 200 rounds, after cleaning. Overall, I'm very happy with it. Handles better than a 238 with +P ammo. When I got used to the trigger, I had major control. I may do one more indoor range trial before doing my usual steel plates at 25 and 15 yards.

This gun is nearly ready for prime time for Concealed carry. Finally found a good micro carry 9mm.

This is a little longer, feels thicker and appears slightly taller than a 238. The weight is heavier than a P238 loaded but I'll measure it to know for sure. Trigger feels heavier than a 238. This could be because it needs lubrication. It didn't feel as smooth. I used an air spray and rem oil. I'll have to see if that translates to a different feel.

The P238 I have weighs 12.9 oz and the P938 weighs 15.6 oz, no magazine or ammo.

I love this thing. Better than a DiamondCrap DB9.

Shipping a defensive gun with out a second mag is bothersome. At that price point it is just ridiculous. This is a gun that I think is interesting though.

I'm sure the prices will drop as supply exceeds demand, just look at the Ruger SR1911 - Oh, wait. They're backlogged....Hahahahahahahaha

I'm gonna give these about six more months before I buy one... want to make sure all the bugs get worked out.
I'm thinking about the same, the Mrs sure does like her little P238, perhaps I'll get her this for Xmas or an anniversary gift.

How pricey are magazines?
Does it actually fit P238 holsters?

No magazines are available, yet. If anything, that's the major negative.

The 938 fits most holsters that fit my 238.

high magazine prices I can deal with to a degree (I do own a PPS, after all)
But not available? What is Sig thinking, releasing a defensive pistol with one mag in the box and none to even buy?
Sounds like they've bought into "gun as talisman" or expect that most of their customers have that mindset.

Holster compatibility is a good thing, at least.

The nice thing about the P238 when it came out was, you could go buy cheap Colt Mustang mags for range use.

Sig does need to start shipping at least 2 mags with the P238 and P938 (if they're unavailable at release, give us a coupon for a free one later), there really is no excuse. Just about every other autoloader I've ever bought came with at least 2.
