Ben trying to find an AR foregrip/light combo (laser is a bonus?) and only found 3 so far.
Anybody have any experience with the SIG STL-300J?
From research, looks like it's made (or at least imported) by iTAC Defense-the iTAC TDL1 is the same light-no verification, but scuttlebutt is made in China?
The other two candidates are the Crimson Trace and Surefire-Surfire's too pricey-still undecided 'bout the Crimson Trace, and it ain't cheap either!

Not real happy with any of 'em-wish the light/laser both were directly below the barrel like the Streamlight TLR-2.
I'd rather go the foregrip/light combo as opposed to most setups I see with Surefires etc mounted on rails etc.

Am I missing any, anybody have any experience with the SIG (lifetime warranty, but little good if it's junk), or am I going to have to wait for the makers to catch up with my wants? :(

I may just end up with a plain foregrip with something like a TLR-2 mounted just in front of it?

Well since nobody had any info, and reliable 'Net reviews are sketchy/non-existent, I'm a gonna answer my own question! :D Mebbe it will help others?

I got one and here are my thoughts:
1. 700 lumens? I don't think so (and I figured as much), but it's plenty bright-I'd guess 300 or slightly higher? Brightest thing I had was a 200 lumen Surefire LED Defender, and it throws out a lot more light than it. 'Course, it has a bigger head-throws a wide/fat penetrating beam, with tons of peripheral light.
2. Comfy grip.
3. Controls not quite ready for prime time-the laser thumb switch is OK, and the big green (glows at night) momentary switch at the rear of the grip is OK, but the rest of the controls you can't manipulate easily (maybe a lefty could, but then he'd be screwed with the laser pushbutton?).
4. Laser adjustments-vertical screw seems to have good tension when adjusting, but the windage screw seems awfully free. 'Course, I beat the heck outta it after mounting, and the laser doesn't seem to have moved.

Mounted it on a Midwest Industries 2-piece drop in rail (my first rail on an AR) and everything seems to be rock solid-tried wiggling the grip/rail etc, and the laser doesn't seem to budge-I feel no rocking/slop in either the light or the MI rail.

I went with the SIG over the iTAC (same light) as SIG says lifetime warranty (not sure 'bout the iTAC) and the understated graphics of the molded SIG logo vs the iTAC white screened logo.
'Could have gotten the iTAC cheaper at Botach with their current sale (10% off and free shipping), but paid 'bout $20 more for the SIG ($196 delivered from Nelson Tactical).

It came with the velcro strap and pressure switch for remote activation, but I haven't tried it yet.

It may turn out to be junk, but it appears solid/well built. I know it ain't the high priced stuff, but I just ain't paying $600 for a Surefire ($700 for their LED), and don't really like the looks of the Crimson Trace (and it ain't cheap). I really don't care for the laser that much (it's a bonus), as I was mainly after a good LED light-I like the way the light is made into the grip-this is also my first VFG on an AR.

I had a spare AR in the closet, and figured I turn it into a HD gun fer the heckuvit.
