Just two minutes from sanity.
OK, one of my squalid secrets is that I am a dirty, filthy Silent Hill junkie. I have all the games and have played them through to all the endings. At least in the earlier installments, the weapons were typically modelled after real world stuff. So today, my daughter was fooling around with Silent Hill 3 and announced "I'd like to have a switchblade like that!" After a moment's thought, I replied "So would I!"
Here's one image of it, though this doesn't look quite exactly as it appears during game play. The clip point is a little straighter in the game.
Anybody know of a knife that looks like this?

Looks like a game designers wet dream.
The fully ground & sharpened top spine would be a little rough on your fingers & pocket lining before you opened it!

Anyway, I find switchblades are over rated.
I own a few fairly good ones, and I can tell you a Benchmade Axis lock or Spiderco can be opened one-handed as fast or faster. And unlike switchblades, they are not subject to spring breakage or fatigue, and are impervious to sand & dirt.

it looks like a dalton model but it could also be a paratrooper styled (modded by game designers) knife

im not at home but there was one knife from a val kilmer movie that looks alot like it ill doublecheck figure out if its at least close and let you know

That blade shape is from a fixed blade I've seen. Perhaps the front end of a SOG Tigershark, Seal Team or the Stingray folder. SOG-S37.jpg SOG-TE02.jpg SOGSR.jpg

Handle...I'm not sure.

Then they could have knocked off the Sebenza (or any of a half dozen slab sided folders) for the handle and taken a double hollow ground clip like the SOGs. I don't remember an actual knife since the raised spine on that blade is so pronounced that it would be difficult to carry.

Silent Hill 3 was published in 2003, what year did that Stingray folder come out? It is really close to how the knife actually appears in game. All that it would need is for the portion of the blade where the SOG logo is located to be blackened. Is it available as an auto?

OK, after spending a few minutes looking at SOG folders, I'm pretty sure that the SH3 team used them as the general inspiration for the game knife. The blade shape is, clearly, SOG. The slab-sided handle bears a family resemblance to several items from their catalog. As for the switchblade part, we never actually see the knife snap open in game. When used, it simply appears in the main character's hand, already open; it's just described as a switchblade in the menu screen.

I've had a hankering for a new knife lately. Maybe I'll pick out one from the SOG catalog to have around in case I ever vacation in the resort town of Silent Hill.
