Far as I remember the Blackhawks are proportionally bigger by cartridge size. I'd estimate the 357 is say 25-30% bigger but that said, never actually measured any of them.
With some exceptions, the Single Six has always shared its grip frame with Blackhawks of the same production year. That is:
XR3 - 1953-1962
XR3-RED - 1962-present
Those exceptions would be birdsheads, which should be obvious and the short XR3-RED grip frame that was installed on later model fixed sight .32 Single Sixes.
