SKS Aperture Sight (reciever mounted)

It's been a while since I have posted anything about the new sight for the SKS rifle. It' not that things are not happening, it's just that I don't want to turn the forum into an ad. My intent is to let those of you that have given feed back and followed the developement of the sight know where things are in the process. Let me say thank you for your input. Having designed the sight initially for my own SKS, I value the opinions of other users. The sights are in process and will be available in the later part of October. We are putting the finishing touches on a web site www.Tech-SIGHTS.com (It will not be on the web until the first part of October). I have posted pictures of the prototype, but not of the final design. Here is an jpg of the TS100 (the model designation for the sight) mouned on an SKS rifle. You can see that the sight will give the SKS that classic "GI" sight system that many of us prefer. The sight also blends well with the lines of the rifle.

If anyone wants more information they can e-mail me at [email protected] or post a reply.

Thanks again for the interest.

I like it! :)

Now if I only had an SKS... :uhoh:

I know it takes a lot of time, money, and effort to put a new product out on the market, but I have to ask... are there plans to do an AK version? Maybe if it was mounted on the rear trunnion... hmm...

Wow, that looks really cool. I would buy one in a heartbeat. What do you do with the old rear sight however? From the prototype drawing it looks like you have removed the rear sight. If that is so, how hard is it to remove the rear sight? Thanks for keeping us informed law27.

Number 6,
Thanks for the interest. The original rear sight should be removed. If the original rear sight is zeroed, I would recomend sighting over the original sight to get the aperture adjustment close before removing the original. This should save you some time and ammo when it comes to completing the zeroing process with the new sight. We will include illustrations for removal with the sight, Here is a link to instructions found at Surplusrifles.com.

Thanks again!

We are getting close. We just posted the web site www.Tech-SIGHTS.com . The sights are inprocess, but we had to back up the delivery date a little. As time gets closer to the delivery date we will update the web site with PayPal capabilties to handle the orders. We will also be advertising in Shotgun News begining November 1st, and will take call in and mail in orders. I would like to say thanks again to everyone that has given feed back and shown an interest as this project as it progressed.
If anyone has any further comments or questions I will glad to answer them at [email protected] or [email protected].

You've been bookmarked!

Will this sight fit the Yugos, too? I've heard they have a few minor differences from other SKSs. Is this true?

Good question. I've got a Yugo as well, and I'm STILL very interested in this sight.

BamBam31 & The_Antibubba,

Thanks for the interest. The sights will fit the Yugo, Russian & and Chinese SKSs. The first prototypes we made were tested on the Yugo and Russian models. We also checked the Chinese version to make sure that the critical dimensions were consistant and they were. The thing that seemed to vary the most were the stocks and where the top edge of the stock ended in relation to the rear of the receiver. My son also has a Yugo and his stock was crowding the sight a little closer than mine did, although neither had to be relieved to fit the sight. The Russian and Chinese models seemed to have more clearance in this area. The Yugos difinately have some beefier stocks on them.

law27,

Just curious, what software did you use to create the drawing of the SKS with your rear sight?

Thanks,
Steve

Hi SteveW13
I use SolidWorks. I started out on AutoCAD and then moved to SolidWorks several years ago.

I finally got some good pictures of the final production model sight mounted on my Yugo. We are still looking at November 15th for a shipping date. Thanks to everyone that has givin input as this project has progressed and feel free to ask if you have any questions along the way.

Thats awesome! I'll be able to mount it on my SKS w/ the scout mount. I had to remove my rear sight to install my C-more, now i can have both! Good thing i didnt grind off my front site yet.

Larry,
What is the Packers-are-winning-for-now-cheasehead discount???? :D
Congrats on a good product making it to production.
Is there a place to order on the websight??? I did not see it, although I have to wait till after season. :(

litman252,
We haven't enabled the Paypal credit card processing yet, but it will be there next week when we are ready to ship. I am not sure that Paypal has a form with the Packer discount yet. :) Thank you all for the interest in the sight. We are pretty excited about the sight and what it does for the SKS. It has been our intent to bring a good product to market at a good price and I think we have done just that. Its interesting that people are posting on Canadiangunnutz.com about the sight too. They say that there are between 200,000 and 700,000 SKSs in Canada.

Daniel964,
