Attach a rifle grenade, load a single round of live ammo, pull trigger. That should easily take that pesky thing off.

JUST KIDDING DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME KIDS RIFLE GRENADES ARE FIRED USING BLANK ROUNDS NOT ACTUAL AMMUNITION!!!!!!!

That being said the suggestion above is a good place to look for info. So is www.ak-47.net I believe it is just a couple pins and then a lot of brute force.

Mine is pinned. I love it. Next thing you know you will want to take that big blade off of it! These are cool rifles with flip up nite sites that are just right the way they are. J&G has like new ones for $149.95 in the latest flyer. Mine was $119.95 out the door. I gave my first one to my son up in Colorado. We used to shoot pure lino-type cast bullets in it that would really reach out and touch someone. Ammo is so cheap now that re loading it is a waste of time. I am going to turn my launcher into a compensator.

I've been thinking about the same thing. How were you planning on doing it? I was thinking about matching the size of the holes that are already there and putting two rows between the ridges about 15 degrees off the centerline.

Recoil and muzzle climb aren't a big deal but that big round thingy on the front is already there and should earn it's keep. I seem to have misplaced my supply of grenades.

I hacked off the GL just ahead of where the rifling starts. Took about 10 minutes.

Different strokes for different folks. I have a cutter that was made for my compensator design years ago that makes a nice rocket port hole. That project is about 150 down the line, though. The gun is a tack driver the way it is now so I may never do it.

I'm with dave sample on this one. I like the gun just the way it is. I thought about getting one of those ultra-lite stocks for it but decided to keep the rifle in its original configuration.

(1) Pop the pin with a flat-faced drift (so you dont spread the end of the pin).
(2) Fix the receiver in a padded vice.
(3) Using a pipe wrench with the teeth padded, give it a good yank. Treads are right hand...righty tighty, lefty lucy.
(4) Clean up all the cosmo that you thought you had gotten rid of.

I would cover up those threads before the ATF pays you an UNsocial call. I think having the threads exposed on a Yugo SKS is a 922r violation.

Yes, that is correct.

Leaving the threads on the end of the barrel exposed is a 922r violation. They have to be cut off or have something threaded on the end that is permanently attached. ATF has specs that define ways of "permanently attached"

OR I could arrange a swap for my SK that does not have the grenade attachment. Would rather have the Yugo model, personally.
