SOLVED: SKS reassembly problem.
Hi folks.
I have a Yugo SKS. I've owned it since the fall and have shot it just once.
Up until this morning, everything worked fine. This past weekend I refinished the stock and reassembled it. No problems during reassembly. At the range I ran into a problem.
Summary and steps I took.
1) Trigger safety wouldn't move. (It wouldn't disengage)
2) Broke down the action.
3) Trigger safety worked fine outside of stock.
4) Put back together but noticed it took extra effort to snap in trigger group.
5) Found same condition as 1.
6) Repeat steps 2 and 3.
7) Found I couldn't repeat step 4.
Now I can't get the trigger group in at all. The pins that lock in the front drop in easily and freely. I then try to press in the rear and it's impossible.
It feels like the spring is fully compressing before the trigger group can engage the locking mechanism in back.
How far out is the spring supposed to stick out of the stock. I swear mine looks like it's sticking out further now than it did in the fall but I could be just imagining that.
Any other ideas as to why putting the trigger group could get progressively more difficult?
Thanks
Andy
