I am wanting to put a sling on my Rossi .357 16in lever rifle. Looking for suggestions as to what brand/kind of swivel set to get. Checked on-line for some, but have no idea as to the size of the magazine tube. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Beware Uncle Mike's, was good quality in the old days, now is junk made in China. Screws with bad threads and heads that ream out when try to tighten. Based on several purchases recently, I am disgusted with their new stuff, as you can probably tell.

I've recently installed two Uncle Mike's swivel sets on two new Henry .22 rifles. My Uncle Mike's swivels are excellent; fit well, tighten up great, look wonderful.

Ditto to hentown's post.
I'm glad you guys had good luck. For many years I exclusively used Uncle Mike barrel bands on all my rifles and shotguns with no problems, Rem 742, Rem 760, Rem 141, Browning Citori, Marlin, etc. The last two barrel bands I purchased for Marlin 336's would not function properly.

One hex screw head was so shallow it would not accept the allen wrench. I called the factory, they acknowledged problems and sent me another. On the other barrel band, it is tighened all the way and will still spin on the magazine. I contaced the factory again and they told me they had a "new manufacturer" (yeah, China) and I might need to shim it for a tight fit.

I hope you continue to have good luck. I am only picking up the older stuff now when I can find it at flea markets and gun shows.

Have to agree with this. Recently bought a barrel sling swivel set, and thought the quality was fairly poor, then I looked at the package - made in China. Ya get what ya pay for I guess.

If you have a saddle ring a single point works great for sitting in a tree stand. The one I got someone made out of parachute cord

No.

Uncle Mikes is still the only game in town for barrel band or mag tube band swivel studs.

Do what you gotta do to make the screws work.
If you even have too.

I have them on 5 rifles and have not had the slightest problem.
But that was all Pre-Chinese manufacture I guess.

Still, they are what you can get.
And can be easily made to work just fine if you are the least bit handy in the Gunsmithing department.

it appears that GrovTec sells what the OP needs
I haven't bought any of their products yet, but will try them next time I need something. I think their founder used to work for Michael's aka Uncle Mike's before the move to China.

I'll also add that the new Uncle Mike's issues are not just functional, but also cosmetic. The recent stuff I got from them no longer has the bright blue finish, but is more flat black and the metal under the coating is not smoothly finished.

I ran into the same internet comments back when I was looking for some sling and hammer stud parts. I bought some grovtec bits and have been satisfied, though they are black and not blued. If the internet can be believed, grovtech is the old uncle mikes. when bushnell moved the brand uncle mikes overseas, bob grover, the former UM manager bought the uncle mikes domestic equipment and started grovtec. http://www.oregonlive.com/milwaukie/index.ssf/2010/10/grovtec.html

Not so, looks like there is an option. Thanks to NeuseRvrRat, Water-man, and greyling22 for being aware of this and sharing the info. With this new knowledge, I've bought my last set of Uncle Mike's.

Check this link for barrel band availability...

Wished I would have known about grovtec, or found out about it earlier, but thanks for the info nonetheless. Tempted to buy replacements for the terrible Uncle Mike's products I already bought.

Don't get the partial barrel band type that doesn't go all the way around the barrel or mag tube. Every one of those I've had wouldn't stay put.

That depends on if you get the correct size and install them properly. GrovTec makes many sizes that fit from a .22 tube magazine up to a .900" two piece barrel band. To install them properly, don't just slap them together and screw the upper screw down tight and then put in the hollow screw and expect it to hold. Put the two pieces around the barrel or magazine tube and screw in the upper hex head screw but leave a gap about the size of a business card between the two halves. Then insert the lower hollow screw and tighten down very snug. THEN tighten down the upper screw. By leaving a gap on the upper screw, that allows it to act as a pivot point so that when you snug down the hollow screw, that pushes the bottom of the barrel apart which squeezes the actual barrel band pieces together and clamps solidly around the barrel or tube.

I have a rossi model 92 44 mag rifle what sling kit do I need for this rifle? thanks guys!
If you are asking about swivels, if your Rossi magazine tube has a diameter of .630" ~ .675", you could use a GrovTec GTSW-43 Two Piece Barrel band set. If you want a one piece barrel band, and don't mind disassembling the gun to install it, you could use a GTSW-41.

I think I've done all that, DvlHownd, but only with Uncle Mike's products. But I'm confused by part of your instructions:

when you snug down the hollow screw, that pushes the bottom of the barrel apart

How exactly does the sling swivel mount push the barrel apart?

he left out the word 'band' - it spreads the bottom of the barrel band apart, which subsequently tightens the band around the barrel.
