I am relatively new to the shot gun slug world+ I need some HELP!!

I got a good deal on a LNIB H+R Ultra Slug 20ga. It has the VERY HEAVY barrel+Laminate stock. I mounted my like new Burris 2X7X35 scope on it.
My main question is, can I/should I, use standard RIFLED slugs to sight it in?? I realize that the sabot type of slugs will shoot to a different point of aim, but will I hurt anything by using the cheaper rifled slugs to get on target??
I really do NOT want to fill the rifled barrel of this "Monster" with soft lead from the standard rifled slugs, but also, I really do not want to spend $3.00 per shot to sight in??
As said, I'm new to the shot gun slug world, but have loaded metallic center fire for almost 40 years!!
Thanks in advance..Bill.:uhoh:

Bite the bullet. You need to use the slugs you'll use.

I can move POI a foot at 100 yards by switching loads.

Here's a method to reduce the number of rounds needed for sight in.

Redneck Boresighting....

Sand bag the weapon with the action open. Peer through the bore and set the weapon so the target is perfectly centered past the muzzle. Move ths sights to match w/o changing the sight picture. Fire a round, adjust as needed.

HTH....

Are Rifled type slugs NOT to be used in Rifled Barrels??

Thanks Dave M.--I have read that a person should use ONLY Rifled type of slugs in a smooth bore shotgun barrel=NO Sabots.
I was wondering if the reverse is true for rifled barrels=ONLY Sabots in a rifled bore shotgun barrel=NO rifled/Foster type slugs??
Over the years, I have spent enough time removing lead from my hand gun barrels, looking for the "Sweet Spot" on cast bullet loads. I do NOT want to go through this with my new H+R Ultra Slug. HA HA..Bill.:uhoh:

Shoot standard soft led Foster ("rifled") slugs in your new rifled barrel and you'll likely have a lot of lead to get out. Bite the bullet and stick to sabots...

They shoot totally different. You see this a lot with bow hunters that dont want to sight in with $12 broad heads so they use target points and wonder why they miss.

Wasting money and time shooting foster slugs in a rifled barrel. That gun will shoot tight groups at 100 yards with the Hornady SST and the Federals with the Barnes Expanders. Bite the bullet, shoot enough of those three/four dollar slugs to get sighted in and collect your venison.

THAT'S what I hope to do Papa...

Lead comes out with the right cleaner and elbow grease. Don't many people regularly shoot volumes of soft lead bullets during the course of cowboy action matches and practice?

Sluggers will shoot to a different POI than sabots. This problem could be solved by buying a second scope for the gun. One for practice, and one for what you're going to hunt with.

Depending on how much you really want to shoot the gun, a second scope may be more economical that shooting tons of $20/box sabots.
