Smaller/Lighter/Flatter than a j frame

Is a P365 lighter than a J if you only stoke it with five rounds?

You shouldn’t penalize the gun because it holds more ammo.

I had a p365, didn't like it at all. Loaded down to five? I dunno. Kind of silly. Wouldn't change the boxy inorganic shape and the way it sits in a pocket, slow to draw so all the edges can catch on the way out

Plus, I would say the 365 has a greater unloaded weight vs the 642...but I certainly can't bothered to spend a few minutes confirming this as I don't believe comparison is in good faith.

Those that carry the 365s and all the new fad micro 9s tend to not do so in the pocket.

Trust me, I've tried it. Ec9, hellcat, 356. Ec9 was best but still too dimensionally large and so much slower on the draw.

I'm looking at p3at lcp custom and maybe lcp22 today and Monday.

I have a glock 19 gen 3 with the old Tupperware box, some mags and holsters and mag carriers. Pre mim, good tool steel parts. I might list it for sale here to scare up some funds.

We all gotta do what we gotta do. Life is adapt or die.

If you didn't like the LCP-MAX, I don't know what to tell you (especially since you didn't say why you didn't like it.)

Anything in .380 and above that's compact and lighter than an Airweight is going to be a bit rude in hand. Are you trying to reduce that, too, or just overall carry weight?

My pocket-carries (that are lighter than the Airweight) have been the Kel-Tec P32, Kel-Tec PF9, Ruger LCP-MAX, and Taurus TCP.

Sorry I didn't reply before. The max just lacked inherent accuracy. I've been shooting pistols over 20 years, it's my speciality lol. I'm not okay with a shotgun group at best. Failed to lock back. Over all cheap and still felt like a slow to draw brick in the pocket

@defjon If your condition includes wrist or hand issues that Kel Tec P3AT kicks like crazy. .380 isn’t a powerful round but in an 8 ounce gun it kicks sharp and it’s snappy.

Yeah, unfortunately this is part of the equation. My right wrist had surgery 08 foe avascular necrosis from another older injury.

My job requires a computer, and in the last months 3 fingers on this same hand have gone numb and ive lost some strength. Carpal tunnel maybe.

This has led me to start looking at the lcp 22.

I had a 21a and ply 22 but never felt 100% confident for carry.

I've got a ton of trigger time behind the j frame
And a steel understudy for the airweight which is itself not bad with wadcutters

I will carry the j most of the time, it just prints too much for npe.

I had an lcp about ten years ago and I actually liked it. I split duty with the lcp at work, and an lcr 357 off work and all the rest of the time.

Sold both to get a 938. Tried a bunch of platforms.

Ended up back with a 642 slightly lighter than lcr and prints less.

My tiny carry was an naa mini folding grip but ballistics and accuracy were a bit dismal.

I think an lcp or lcp22 wouldn't weigh much more and be a big upgrade

LCP1, gen 2 has been my go-to pocket gun for 7 years now. I actually find it more pleasant to shoot than the J-frame, I think it just fits my hand better.

Pocket carry just does not suit me. Way to slow on the draw. Most times I carry the little P365 in a desantis OWB. I will say that if running for gas at the local stop and rob that it is pretty convenient to stick the J in a coat pocket. 9MM and 38 special is as small as I go. Lucky at 75 years to be able to carry anything.

This is the one that I carry most often, a Kel-Tec PF9, it just disappears even under a t-shirt and I don't even know it's there. 20221112_083344.jpg

Pretty stoked to check out the lcp custom. I guess it was discontinued. I like the trigger on the lcp 1 vs lcp2/ lcp max. The trigger dingus rugers are odd- no take up, long pull to a sudden wall, then some odd stacking.

Starting to consider the lcp22 at least until I get the wrists figured out.
