Not sure what you mean with your question. Of course equal bullet weights at equal velocities offer equal capabilities. IMO neither the 45 ACP or 45 Colt are the best choice for handgun hunting.
The ACP lacks velocity for adequate penetration on larger animals and it's slow speed makes a rainbow trajectory. The Colt in its original loading is much the same. The large case capacity of the 45 Colt inspires many shooters to hot rod this round but that's a bad idea in the S&W with its relatively thin chamber walls. In a stouter gun, sure, the Colt can be jacked up to 1,200 or 1,300 FPS making it a whole different situation.
