What accuracy is normal out of a Smith & Wesson Model 317. What would be the normal range for shooting a gun with this short of a barrel. What is the normal trigger pull found on a factory 317, Double Action and Single Action. Are there any problems with the aluminum frames wearing out.

Thanks

I have the model 43, an ancestor to the 317, and I'm pretty sure the aluminum frame will never wear out.

mom has a 3", she bought it to help her practice for her model 60.I have shot it enough to tell you it's as accurate as you can hold it.hence the rub it is light as a feather and if you flinch a little it'll move alot.I typically shoot nice tight groups with a few bad fliers.

Years ago I bought a 317 when they first came out. Ended up giving it to daughter (she liked it and wanted it). Really lightweight. I far prefer my 18 and K22 which BTW cost me less than a new 317 and are far far more accurate (at a cost of bbl length and weight).

At 10 yds I'm doing well to shoot a 10" group every now and then with the 3" 317. The other two can shoot 1" or less groups in the hands of a good shooter at 10 tds. The K22 is amazing in the hands of someone with good eyes and steady hands out to 25 yds or 150 yd steel plates (30" sq).

Lighter is better for carry. Maybe not so much for shootin'. Maybe.
