Hello Everyone! I have to chance to buy the Smith & Wesson Model 5906 9mm plus 1 15 round magazine for $400 bucks, its in excellent condition with no scratches or dents. He only fired it once and put it away in the box. The reason why he's selling it he's going through a hard divorce and he has to get rid of everything. Is this a good deal to snatch up? He's holding it for me. Thanks Jamie (BornCountry)

If it is in excellent condidtion, $400 is a fair price. If it has any holster wear, scratches, etc., tell him he can keep it.

The 5906 is probably one of the best DA 9mm's ever made, but there are just so many of them out there that they do not pull a premium price. I'd bet there were more 5906's made than 4006, 1006 and 4506 combined (BTW, I have one of each and love them).

BTW, if it is the TSW model (accessory rail) or has an adjustable rear sight (or night sights), it is worth more than a standard 5906.

5906 is a great firearm. unfortunalty the police surplus market has pushed the price down to 350 for a lnib police trade. CDNN also has a good supply of these on a regular basis.

Get a Glock instead.

:D

j/k

Buy it if you like it, that's about the going price for LNIB.

Not a great price, not a bad one either. My first 5906 was NIB, (unissued police trade in) and was $400 a few years ago. The last one I bought was $280 from www.summitgunbroker.com, with 3 magazines, and bright trijicon night sights (I think they are new as they had no wear on them). The interior was excellent and 10 minutes with scotch brite pad and flitz, and a new set of grips got the exterior on par.

I wouldn't put to much emphasis on the exterior of a stainless pistol, as long as there are no deep scratches, they can be easily refinished.

That's a great reason to offer $300.00. It only has one magazine. A gunstore will probably give him $200. Since the new M&P is out, PD's are converting, so their current 5906's are being traded away. They are everywhere, for @ $350.00 with a couple mags or more. Tell him you'll pay for the FFL transfer.

I have one. It is a very good weapon.
If you want it and it is in the condition that you state, I would buy it. It is probably a little over book, but it is a very good weapon.

LynnMassGuy - You were right, buy the Glock didn't take long to surface.
The Glock is also a very good weapon, but they do not fit my grip properly.
