So, what did you buy yourself for Christmas?

Bought an Anschutz 1408 .22lr rifle. Seller dropped it at the post office in St Charles, MO in the afternoon on 21 Dec, it finally made it to the Memphis, TN distribution center yesterday, 2 Jan, at 4;30PM. Now I have to see how long it takes to get to Florida. They could have strapped it to the back of a turtle and gotten it here quicker.

Not especially for Christmas and not a gun but an unusual purchase. 25 nylon cartridge cases for a Burnside Carbine from Lodgewood Manufacturing and a .562 round ball mold from Titian. Titian had Lee APP shell holders in stock so got those needed for some other calibers.
Ordered before Christmas but still haven’t arrived.

So new, it still has the stickers on the tires.
Better take those off, you could slide out in a turn...
:)

Optically correct windshields, for coyote viewing.
Plenty of foot room, for rifle storage.
Mirrors that hang from the top, no vertical bar...;)

I like it.
I got myself a brand new magnum.

I bet it’s got a transfer bar on it. Ain’t quite the same as the old ones that didn’t have a bunch of fancy linkage. Another example of how technology has advanced and made old items obsolete. Because it made the classics obsolete it can’t possibly be good, so you had better keep your old Super C tricycle handy for when all this newfangled improved stuff breaks down.

All in jest. Did you pop for the upgraded interior so that your butt stays nice and comfy on long days out? Last big Case I was in had nice leather... but it was a quad track and it was getting prepped to go to Egypt. Sometimes it’s nice to have friends with interesting jobs that can share the toys that they get to work on or work with.

Yep, deluxe interior.
Its nice, has its own wifi. No frig though.

I went to the gun show today looking to find a FN 1910 for myself for Christmas. Glad I raised my insurance coverage. If I was smart I would buy a table at the gun show. A couple of $700 10/22s. $1500 for a $750 CMP Garand. $1250 for a US made Walther .22 TPH. $550 for a .40 Walther P99 that sat on the shelves for years at $299. $40 for a box of .380. I'm saving my cash for the inevitable price drop.

A Weatherby Mark XXII, Japanese made, magazine model. Stopped by my LGS/range, there it was in the rack waiting for me.
I had one like that with the matching Weatherby MKXXII scope. Very elegant and pretty accurate for squirrel hunting. If you had Weatherbys it was a must in a collection. I sold it like an idiot and got a Kimber Cascade bolt action in .22lr. Never should have sold it...Enjoy, they are harder to find today.

I found a well-preserved S&W Model 64-4 snub-gun at a local dealer, a couple or three days before the 25th. I traded two G19 Glocks, that were vexing my aging hands. (Compact Nines, as a category, are no longer my friends.) This was my second 2” Model 64, in 2020, as I bought a 64-3 last Spring. Most of my training is now done with an S&W 17-4 .22 LR revolver, so, it makes sense to gravitate toward medium-frame revolvers for carry.

I like the pair-and-a-spare concept, so, with two Models 64, and a pre-Model 10, all 2”, I am all set. :)

This is a link to the dealer’s page, for the 64-4 I brought home. Yes, the asking price was high, but it was in near-pristine condition, and, I traded disused pistols that had become painful to shoot, so spent no actual cash.

Pitney Bowes, acting as a “shipping partner,” dawdled around with one package, then, well, stored it, in Grapevine, Texas, for more two weeks, before passing it on to the USPS, on December 30th. A package mailed several days before Thanksgiving arrived on January Second. Thankfully, it was not needed for gifting, on the 25th.

I usually buy a pistol or something for myself at Christmas and tell my wife not to buy me anything. This year I refuse to pay the prices so will wait for things to calm down. when they do it'll be either a .22 pistol of some sort or possibly a .22 rifle. I did order some Dawson Precision sights for my G42 and a Skinner sight for my 1894 though

That's a beauty and I'm quite fond of K 38/357 Smith's. Especially roundbutt 2/3in. You didn't pay too much. New today that piece would retail close to 1k. More importantly you are happy. I've done similar the last years. Good business according to others or not is irrelevant.

I bought a .41 Blackhawk about two weeks before Christmas...

and a CZ 455 Lux .22 LR the week after.

I also bought an Athlon scope and Talley tall rings for the CZ, but the 40mm bell was too large to clear the rear sight so I slapped a Center Point 32mm on there until I can find a better scope that’ll fit.

Stay safe.
