Solvent traps

"Solvent traps", oil filters, soda bottle adapters; bump stocks, "braces", 'Shockwave', all gimmicks to get the effect of highly regulated equipment without government control. What did you expect?

It's exactly what I expected, and the reason I have never had a solvent trap. Too much risk for too little benefit, IMHO.

I had heard they made a big fuss about them a while back, always seemed like a great gimmick to get on the bad side of ATFE's radar, with zero benefits.

I have tax stamps for 3 of them that I bought / made a couple years ago. They were LEGAL when I submitted my Form 1's, and were approved in about 6 weeks.
I'll tell the ATF to pound sand if they ever show up at my door.
They work just as well as the store bought suppressor's I have, and cost 1/3 the price.

Is this about the threaded adapter that connects an engine oil filter to a threaded barrel?
Or were/are there "solvent traps" that look like a NFA regulated suppressors that need a small amount of home/amateur machining to become a functional suppressor?
