Here's a left handed Mexican loop style reminiscent of the Menea designs of the 1880's. This one in a dark brown color for a 4¾" Colt SAA or New Vaquero. Littered with antique brass spots surrounded by double border stamping. Pictures don't do it justice, it turned out beautifully. The belt is mine and is a different color, so it's not supposed to match. ;)

Very stylish looking rig! Especially like all of the detail work with the brass tabs and double border stamping on the holster.

Man! Gotta wipe the drool from my chin.

I guess I have to go to church this weekend - ya know, that covetting thing. :scrutiny:

Blue steel, wood & fancy leather mmmmmmmmm good.

Absolutely Beautimous

Wow. That is rich looking. Thanks for the pics. Great rigs.

It almost makes you wish you were born a hundred years earlier... until you think if NO indoor plumbing. I own an outhouse and it is cold out there in the Winter.

I don't use a spot setter any more. I just poke a couple holes with an awl and push `em in by hand. Then I fold over the prongs with a steel punch. It does take a hell of a lot of time to lay them out, poke the holes and set them. Way more than the $10-$20 upcharge might suggest.

That's pretty cool, I ordered one! Is that what you meant by "spot setter"? The setter I have uses the prongs on the spot to make the holes. Was never real impressed with how it worked.

Thanks pard!

Looked at the dished out rectangular block with pounding tool. Then I came across the E-bay thing. Looks good to me . I ordered one also. Says to use on rubber pounding board. One would need the metal dished out bar to collapse the legs of the spot. I have a horse stall mat (4' X 6' X 1") that I use as a cutting surface. It is on a 4' x 8' table. Should work really well.

They had some pretty cool antique copper spots, I ordered some of them too.

I've got a bunch of stuff to beat on. I do my cutting on a black 24x36x1/2" cutting board. I've got a 12x18 poundo board. I set my spots against it. I've got a warped 12x18 Tandy "professional" cutting board that makes my blades wander so I just use it for punching. Then there's a 24x36x1" thick rubber mat under my granite slab (still need to order a 4" slab) that I also use when punching holes with the awl.
