long story so il cut to the chase. was talking to a guy at a car dealership today in the waiting room. he was asking about geting his cwp when a lady that had been quietly reading spoke up and said no one should have guns other than the police. why? because she had a family member shot and killed by some one with a permit. and that guns where to blame for a lot of crime and blah, blah, blah. digging deeper into the conversation i found out her "family member" was shot while commiting armed robbery of a gas station. what is wrong with people?:banghead:

^ Way to go Kingpin008

Stupid should have to hurt! Honnestly when did common sense stop being applied to incidents such as these? Armed robber = shot by CCW holder = JUSTICE!

The point aint very sharp on that one, I tell you what. Don't fret, niether you nor I will ever be able to fix stupid. Some folks exist for the sole purpose of breathing our air.

Personal loss makes any argument more difficult. While not knowing anything about this lady it's hard to even fathom where she gets here ideals. People "like that" are not a worthwhile cause to debate the pro's and cons of firearms, there will always be anti-(fill in the blanks), the people that should be pursued are the fence sitters and the ignorant, not the arrogant and stubborn.

One short business trip typically had a coworker along who might never again cross my path. There are too many people in large companies.

Anyway, she heard me tell another guy that I had accumulated about 3,000 rds. of surplus 8mm ammo.
Her only comment was "Who are you going to shoot?" She seems to be from the city culture, if you know what I mean....

The next time I hear such a question, maybe I'll ask the person whether they drive a car, and if they say yes, ask who they plan to run over.

I'd blame it on where you live. :neener:

When I last took my wife's car in for an oil change there were three people in the little waiting area; a white guy in his mid twenties, a pretty white woman in her mid-to-late thirties and a black guy in his fifties. What were they all talking about? What gun the woman should get for concealed carry. The black guy was lamenting the fact that his wife bought a Kimber, "Oh, no! She has to buy the expensive gun!".

I swear every word is true. I love Alaska. I'm NEVER leaving.

Ignorance and a complete lack of understanding of the "real" world don't surprise me much anymore. I work in a hotel in South Dakota. One day, I had a guest...with a straight face....ask me "what we did with Mt Rushmore during the winter?" I asked what they meant, and said that the monument was open year round. "Well, I know....but where do they PUT it in the winter?" I informed them it was a mountain, and was left outside like most mountains during the winter. The sad part? She looked at me like I was the one being foolish and clueless....

what gets me is how someones kid will go out, commit a violent crime, try to rob a liqueur store, punch an old lady, and then get shot by the police...

....and then the next day the parents are on the news ranting and raving how the evil police shot their innocent and loving child, and how they want justice and all that crap.

no one is ever at fault no a days, someone or something else is always to blame......people cant possibly imagine that their loved ones are actually bad people.....so they blame their actions on something else...

.."oh it was the drugs that made him do it!.....oh its the guns fault!!!.....oh, he wouldnt have done this if he wasnt drunk!!!"...

Every piece of legislation ever passed and every non-passage of proposed legislation has had a perceived negative effect on somebody. That can never change.

Ignition's comment is great! One might also ask the buyer of a pen or a keyboard," About whom do you plan to lie?"

My standard answer to this kind of comment is "just cause you think like a criminal it doesn't mean I am one"

"Blame it on the Democrats? I know the kind of person you are talking about. You cant fix ignorant."

I know its easier to see things in black and white but there are pro-gun Democrats and anti-gun republicans.

Food for thought. I would have asked the lady what would have happened to the victim if he didn't have a ccw and was not armed. Could her family member be charged with murder one on top of a felony. Another reason for the Castle Act for self defense.

Sounds like everything worked out as it should have. My response to her would have been "and nothing of value was lost".

Seriously, if you decide to commit a violent crime, you're rolling your own dice. Sanctity of life no longer applies.

Or "stupid is as stupid does"

people like this will never change - they think they are right, they believe they are right, thus they know they are right. I decided to not engage people like this - I simply smile and walk away.

True story: my friends wife was anti-gun - did not like him having his chl with a young child. One day she is going to drop the child off at daycare (decent area / low crime) and as she is getting out with child in hand - she sees a lady 2 cars down getting car jacked at knife point.

Needless to say she is pro-gun at this point.... it is sad that it takes something like this for someone to see the answer to the age old quesiton - WHY DO YOU CARRY A GUN?

LOL

Poor dangerous armed criminal, I mean victim.
Did she ever stop to think her relative might have killed an innocent person USING A FIREARM before he was stopped BY A FIREARM?

This one is so good I just have to cross-post it on another forum.
I hope that is okay with the OP (if not, PM me and I'll delete it).

Ha I have a co-workers who I always talk about this with. THe friends and family always get on there and talk about how there is no way "their baby" could do that, and how much of a nice person "their baby" is. 90% of the time I bet they know exactly what type of scum bag their friend/relative is.

That lady the OP is talking about said only police should have guns....well her relative could just as easily have been shot by the police.

The police are also humans...some of them also commit crimes, up to and including murder. All the totalitarian governments thought only the police and military should have guns as well....

Reminds me of the idiots involved in that Dayton shooting. The perp who got away was posting on facebook that the guy who shot his buddy was a coward and admitted they were attacking the victim. Then their no account friends get on and comment about how bad it was that the vicitim was allowed to carry a gun and shoot people...because he was attacked he should only use his bare hands. He was attacked by a couple of crack heads and their crack head friends apparently want to talk about what is fair? :banghead: I hope that dude's facebook page buries him in prison for 5-10

I hate when a stranger forces their way into my conversation. I usually end it by saying " I wasn't talking to you, didn't your mother teach you it's not polite to interrupt two adults when they are having a conversation ? :barf:

Most people who interrupt me and others talking about guns are more interested than anti gun. Although one time I was at school talking about guns with a classmate and a woman walked up to us and said if carry a gun around town the police will hassle you about it. She did not know anything about guns, so we just ignored her. Seriously the people I know who have gotten pulled over by police when carrying just tell the officer what they have and that is it. Funny how ignorant some people are.
Anyways that woman needs to use her common sense a little. Armed robbery=endangering other people's lives=risking being shot by a law abiding citizen.
