I'm quite fond of my Model 60-15. A "J-Magnum frame" chambered for .357, it shines with .38+P. This one's a 3-incher. The Model 60, in the words of Wikipedia, "...holds the distinction of being the first regular production all stainless steel revolver ever made."

Here's a really nice Model 66-2 I picked up recently.

Is it my imagination or did S&W stamp that sideplate off center? And of the two guns, do you find any one more accurate than the other? (I took my Ruger 2.75-inch out to an outdoor range and was shooting at orange clay pigeons at 100 yards. It was amazing how many I hit (and if I didn't hit them I was hitting damn close), and yet the National Coalition to Ban Handguns and other groups years ago were telling people that short barrels on handguns were only good at "table top" distances.

You ever had a chance to shoot your guns at extended ranges?

Yes, but the original model 60 was just a regular .38Spl. 2" J-frame, basically a model 36 Chief Special in stainless. No target sights, no enclosed ejector rod. Pretty much a different gun.

No clue as to why they still would call the current model a 60.
