My wife and I were sitting a small coffee house just enjoying a soft drink when a man I knew from Yoga class came in and outed me. We are not friends and had talked about guns last year after a class. Well today he walks up to me and my wife and in a loud and clear voice asked "Hi, (My name) are you still carrying your gun" I didn't want to appear surprised or make a commotion. I just wanted him to shut up and go away. He did neither. So I told him sternly looking into his eyes. "We don't talk about that in public here or any where"

I was hoping the owner did not hear him and ask me to leave and never return. The little coffee house is about far left and one can go as are most of the customers. It is the only one in town and I or we never talk politics.

If I ever see that man again I explain more to him :cuss:

The coffee shop has been open for about 5 years and I've carried there for 5 year and will continue to. Oh by the way he the owner was robbed the at knife point several years ago.

Thank you for lending me your ears/eye to dump.

A good comeback is " Are you still wearing pink underwear? The question you asked me is just as personal and I prefer not to discuss it in public."

This is a good example why not to tell anyone about CCW.

I would have told him he must have me confused with someone else and if he persisted I'd hafta take hij outside and remind him it is not a good idea or moral to out someone for carrying just like he should not wlak up to someone and blurt out anything that is personal information.

Carrying a gun is the equivalent of wearing pink underwear?

I'll be glad when we get this country straightened out.

I guess, until then, you gotta be careful who you tell what.

So...... why is it that you support them with your money? I would not...... but that is just me.

You could have said "Why do you want to know? Are you looking to do the world a favor and remove your sorry existence?"

Threats are NEVER a good thing if you are armed. BAD ju-ju.

Very high road. Well done. I do think I would have asked him if he was still wearing women's underwear.

I've found the best retort is a light one. Laugh it off.

"Are you still carrying your gun?"
(Laughing): "Of course! Doesn't everybody?" or "Good one! Are you still beating your wife?"

You said this man outed you right? Well to modify Nickotym's response why not ask," Are you still wearing women's underwear?". That should get folks to looking at him instead of you.

Romeo beat me to it. I guess it pays to read all the responses first.

So you support a business that supports politics you abhor with money and the ever-present propaganda at a leftie coffee house? YOUR money goes to those who work hard to destroy our liberty.

Guy would have done you a favor if you'd been banned from the place.

Do what you want, but I've quit supporting those who work against what I believe. And I live on the edge of a hippie enclave, and I do understand that's hard to avoid sometimes, but it feels pretty damn good, too. Better than sneaking around, ashamed of your freedom.

I think you did okay. I would consider taking my business elsewhere, but if you've been going there for five years... well, it must be a good place.

How did the idiot find out that you were carrying?

Besides that, you answered his question well.

No actually you screwed up totally about a year ago by telling someone who absolutely no reason to know that you carry, that you carry.

followed by a long withering stare.

LOL

It is the only one in town.

Uh, I grind my own beans and press my own coffee. It's better that way.

One of the great parts of primitive camping while hunting in Montana is that the guide used to be a high-end coffee wholesaler. My first VERY COLD morning after a night discovering I hadn't brought enough sleeping bag for the sudden cold snap, my spirits were revived by seeing this old Montana cowboy -- who literally used an 1892 Winchester as a drill -- whip out his French Press.:)

Maybe other places are different, but around here, you get to watch a bunch of students studying for exams, mostly, in a coffee house.

In a clear voice, once he pulled such a shenanegan - "You're in clear violation of the restraining order. Please leave this establishment before the police are summoned!"

Suddenly, your "not friend's" idiotic comment becomes a public threat, and attention is pulled off of you.

Sure, there isn't a restraining order against him, but I'd consider one after that idiot's crack.

Didn't the fellow do the verbal equivalent of brandishing? Might explain to him he was in legal jeopardy by running his mouth.
