Someone's Going Broke...

If this is legit they have no idea what they are in for. Some one could rent a Uhaul and clear out all the big box stores in an area and make many $10,000's in a day.

FWIW the church appears to be real and even has this event on their website...

I wonder if they'll accept lead projectiles? i.e. actual bullets and not loaded rounds as the flyer states...

I wonder how many bullets I can cast in two days.

I might go and see what they say/do. This is not in a good part of town though.....

I would bet my next paycheck that the people who get paid are................."profiled".............as members of a specific group.

I would bet the next paycheck that if I showed up, I would not be welcomed with open arms and would not be paid. I wouldn't nesessarily bet on it, but I would go so far as to say that physical violence might be offered along with the request for me to leave.

Even though they have "bullets" printed all over the flyer, I would guess they mean cartridges. Most likely the folks who thought this one up are not exactly the most knowledgeable of people when it comes to guns in general and ammunition in particular.

Saw this on Facebook today. Someone checked (called) and the limit is $30. Don't know if true or not.

Somebody finally found a use for Remington Golden Bullets!

I live an hour away and I'm 99% sure I have a brick of Thunderbolt I found in my dad's garage. Sounds like an easy $500 to me!

So it sounds like the church is giving away free boxes of five hundred twenty five Winchester bulk hollowpoints.
One heads to Wally World, purchases a box of five fifty five Winchesters for twenty nine ninety nine, plus tax. Taking the requisite thirty from the box, one must reliquish them to the higher athorities, in exchange for thirty dollars, a cleansed soul and peace of mind that you will not shoot yourself or other, purely random, humans.

Having a clear heart, verily blessed by God, you can take the remaining cartridges and bury thier soul stealing, projectiles of death into the earth. After passing them through the center of a parchment, written on with concentric cleansing circles, during the Purification by Fire ceremonies.

One can only imagine that the remaining cartridges would be more accurate. After being ordained to be safer and more pure than the previous beloathed thirty.

In all, a great deal for one near their locale.

:)

The taxes?

Well, churches are tax exempt.

And the Government always "gets theirs". So I suppose one would still be paying the tax.

But as you know, "there ain't nuthin in this world for free, Baby..";)

I would be interested in knowing what the plan is for disposing of the ammo they buy. Are they planning on turning it over to the city Police Dept. or Sheriffs office and if so do they know about this? Some random guy walking into headquarters and saying "Here's 10,000 rounds of ammo I bought yesturday I'd like you to have it," would be quite a scene.

Even at a limit of $30 a person it would be a good way to pay for a family dinner though, say some guy with wife and four kids takes 180 rounds out of his brick of 22lr drives the minivan to church..... And its off to Pizza Hut everybody has a full stomach, wife didn't have to cook there's change left over and over 300 rounds still in the box for the next range trip.

Win Win...

I have 4 bricks of the old Winchester Wildcat .22 LR that have been stored for 18 years in sealed containers BUT subjected to ambient temperatures, so I don't know how good they are now. (I don't get to shoot my .22s as much as I would like.)
Those would be full cartridges and not just "bullets". Just think how many bricks of new ammo I could get just by exchanging one brick ....... ;) :D

I really wish I lived closer. The people selling their 30 rounds of .22lr rounds for $30 should post pictures to the church’s Facebook page of them
Holding up bricks of .22 they purchased from the sale with a caption like:

“Thank you to the church for paying a $1/round for my 1.8¢/round .22 ammo. It felt good to do something to protect my community. So I took that $30 and purchased 500 more rounds of ammo. Please post flyers next time you’re in the market for more bullets.”

I’m really not for taking advantage of good will. But God gave us a brain to use. And the people who came up with this must have skipped that day.

They have a $30 limit per person. Can't buy a 525 rd bulk pack and get enuf to buy that Ruger AR I looked at.

By their math, I could buy two boxes of Federal Auto Match (325 rds ea), turn in 30 rounds, and have 620 rds free ammo. Duh.

This is crazy. Like a gang banger is going to turn in their ammo. Like there are not better interventions for suicides.

It is pure symbolic horse hockey. Voodoo criminology I calls it.

This looks like a scam that showed up in a Michigan paper. The ad was a fake. It promised a $40,000 payment and a new home to everyone in atonement for slavery, . The ad was timed for a holiday when the courthouse was closed so the crowd that showed up just about rioted.
Sound too good to be true???? It probably is. Check out the phone number and see if it is legit!

You guys missed something. It says $1 per bullet. Doesn't even have to be loaded rounds. Just bring boxes of the cheapest cast lead bullets and collect your money.

$30 worth anyway. Terminology between bullet and cartridge is pretty synonymous among even shooters.

Sometimes these things are for real. I turned in an RG zamak converted starter pistol for $200 at a church in a nasty part of Brooklyn some years ago. Also got $100 each for several junk, rusted out rifles and shotguns, and $25 for a non working Daisy air rifle.

Took the proceeds and bought a new rifle for myself and a shotgun for my son. The proceeds were given in debit cards that worked in Chase Bank ATMs, lots in NYC.

Wished I'd had more junk guns.

If I lived locally to Louisville, I'd certainly trade 30 .22's for a brick of 500. I'd also advise all my shooting buddies to do the same, take all the money we could. Generally, it's not really the churches putting up the money, they're just the conduit to convince people to come in. It's some deep pocketed individual or organization providing the cash. And Bloomberg does put his own money where his mouth is, I'll give him that.

I'm still trying to arrange to send someone. I'll probably give them 30 rounds of rimfire and if they won't accept that then 30 rounds of 9mm should do the trick.
