I'm actually glad that I live in a state where I can't buy all of that stuff on the show. If I could, wow, I'd be spending all kinds of money I don't have. It's the first time in my life I am glad I'm in CA to protect me from myself. Saying that just feels so wrong.

i dunno.......the show is ...ok........but the engineering and building they do is terrible......

for starters......the master key.......now i know they specialize in saiga shotguns...........but that was a terrible platform for the master key......

....the .410 "kill stick" is ungodly unsafe....the only thing keeping that from going off is a simple notch the striker locks into........itll be a miracle if no one dies from the use of that thing.....

the flashlight machine gun they stole from Magpul looked slapped together.......i honestly think i could make a nicer looking one in my basement.

i dunno......ill probably watch a few more episodes and hope it gets better.

What I find amusing is how he thinks so many of these things haven't been done before. He actually said that it was the first time a masterkey had been done. Also killsticks have been around for a long time in the gator community...and while they may not be safe they're not going anywhere.

I just watched the dual M16 episode again. I think they definitely tested the water cooled M16s the same way they did the non-cooled ones. If you watch it closely, there is wayyy more than 30 rounds put into the paper (which was blank when they started testing the water cooled M16s) and you could even count a lot more blasts than 30... He also seems to hint at the end of the episode (when he's standing next to the boat) that they tested them the same... I think it was just edited out because it was a given (the editors probably didn't know the haters would analyze ever cotton pickin' thing lol)... ;-)

IM so glad its over and not stealing anymore of my time. The show was awful hahaha.

i know i'll be watching season 2 though, just waiting for someone to blow their hand off.

kingofthehill, you are gonna love season 2 and you are gonna turn from a closet Sons of Guns fan, to a public fan! :p

I've never really seen the show, but I absolutely HATE it.

Why?

In the very short time its been on the air, prices of Saigas, especially 12s, has shot by insane amounts. (going by GB prices, about $150 just on the 12 since the show first aired) Coincidence? I think not.

Therefore, <removed> sons of guns for making the price of the shotgun I was going to buy no longer affordable to me. ;)

Remember, this was also the time frame when the ATF 'study' on imported shotguns came out.

It may have more to do with that than Will's show.

The show is for entertainment, not education. I was American choppers for entertainment, not to explain to me the process of building a bike. If they made it do in depth the average american would have to think to much and they wouldn't like it.

We had to temporarily close this while we cleaned up the language and vitriol.

Strong opinions are OK, harsh language and personal attacks and insults are NOT.

Keep it civil folks, or you'll get more than a warning next time.

Carry on.

Lets try and not get the thread closed over some moronic comments. I thought we were all adults on here. It appears some of us might not have reached that status yet. I think the show itself is a train wreck, and I can't take my eyes off of it. It seems like they were stretched for ideas all ready. I can't wait to see what they try and rig up next season. They have definitely done their jobs and hooked some viewers.

I am looking for an original, or American copy of a ballistic knife that fires a knife blade. I don't need the spring (which is the part that makes this illegal), just the knife for a TV story we are doing on this knife based on the Russian Spetsnaz version that fired the blade with a spring.
We are looking for an original or American copy of this ballistic knife that was sold in the mid 1980's. We are intererested in borrowing, renting or purchasing this knife for a TV documentary.
Or, if you can point me in a direction of where to find this.
Thanks

A documentary, huh?

Why do a show on that?

my guess is they realized they cant make a firearm worthy of shooting, so they are going to try different stuff until they can find something they can actually make well.....

Wow, it sounds like they may actually be able to come up with ideas even more moronic than the first season. A knife that launches it's blade?:barf:

Well, one interesting thing to add.

Last evening I had the occasion to handle a Red Jacket suppressed Saiga shotgun. (It broke before I had the chance to fire it at the range :( )

The owner has had the suppressor for over 3 years. Which means they made his at 2+ years before the show started and they "invented" it for the TV audience,.

Not near as quiet as I expected, really not safe enough for indoor firing without hearing protection. Cool novelty.

haha, I have to disagree and not because I'm biased towards Sons of Guns, but seeing a ballistic knife would be awesome! I thought they were illegal in all states? I'd love to see them build one!

oh man.....theyre merging discovery shows now..........man, i can wait for the next episode of Dirty Jobs.....

"hi, mike rowe here, and today on dirty jobs we take a trip down to Red Jacket, where i spend the day sweeping up crap.........and man do they make a lot of it here............its a dirty job, but someones got to do it"
