Does anyone carry an SP101 on your ankle and if so with what type of holster?

9mmdude,

I own a SP101 and love the firearm but do not carry it in an ankle holster. I do not carry any of my firearms in an ankle holster. I think it makes them too difficult to get at in an "emergency" situation. Of course, that's only my opinion.

BTW, out of all my handguns, my SP101 is still my favorite carry gun. I absolutely love the .357 mag. but that's another thread all together.

I tried an SP101 in an ankle rig, but found it too heavy for prolonged carry. Also, it could be lost from the holster while running, probably due to the weight of the cylinder high on the ankle. I find a S&W 442/642 to be much easier to carry on the ankle.

9mm ... SP-101 is my usual daily carry but ankle ?? Nope! As has been said, too heavy and ... with cyl' bulge I expect too uncomfortable with pressure on leg. Personally I think revo and ankle rig - needs to be ultra lightweight if revo at all... but I don't like the lightweights anyways!

My one ankle carry is the Rohrbaugh R9 ... in a Pro-Tech Outdoors rig. Not bad at all - and of course very flat profile.

Sorry, but whenever I carry my .3578 SP-101, it's either in a belt holster, or in a large outside pocket of a stoutly made insulated vest (with something suitably heavy enough in the portside pocket to balance things).

Maybe if you carried one on each ankle, and wrote it off as exercise ankle weights.;)

I used to carry an SP101 in an ankle holster while wearing boots. Concealment was great. It had all the disadvantages of any ankle carry but worked well for me.

I don't have a SP101 anymore but it is a good gun no matter how you carry it.

I've gotten away from ankel carry for the most part and use pocket holsters most of the time now.
