I posted this question in the revolver section also. Sorry if this is a no-no. My SP101 ejector rod seems to have excessive play. The "ejector" motion (in&out) seems OK but the "side" travel seems to be excessive. the back&forth motion seems to be able to move the ejector rod about 1/16"-1/8". Is this normal? I would think the ejector rod would be tight a s the rest of the gun? Any help?

I had the same concern when I got my SP101 and when I asked on the Ruger forum I was told it was a normal condition , I've since seen many others that are the same . Mine has fired hundreds of 38spl and 357mag rounds since and hasn't changed . You might consider a Hogue grip , makes it easier to hold on to when shooting magnum loads . Great little gun though .

The ejector rod on SP101s and GP100s has a completely different design than S&W. It is a clever innovation that allows the rod to ride below the center of the cylinder and allows a thicker barrel end to be used in the frame without ejector rod interference. The wiggle you are seeing is normal and by design.
