I don't know about the Spartan, but 00 buck is available in 20 ga. from the company whose link is below. I have not tried it or checked the contents of the shells.

I bought some "0000" loads from these jokers in 12 gauge. Didn't figure it to work being as how 8 pellets (.375 inch i think the claim is) didn't pack flat in the case. At 40 yards only 2 pellet made it inside a 30" circle from a modified barrel. 3 made it from a IC choke. By comparison, I had some standard 3" Winchester 00 that fired over 80 percent pattern from the modified barrel of my SxS.

You can keep the fancy over stuffed buckshot loads.

"It obviously doesn't meet SAAMI standards which allow .015" + or - for buckshot. .315 is commonly used for 00 Buck but nothing smaller would be permitted by the voluntary SAAMI standards." multigauge

Interesting.

Would a .315" lead ball be a 00, 0 or #1 Buckshot?

The answer to that, according to SAAMI "voluntary industry standards," would be:

Yes.

Indeed, we are talking about 20 gauge buckshot and marketing it as 00B. Rio did the same thing a few years back. Rio also got the word and their 20 gauge buckshot round is now listed as #1B for the nine pellet load.

Yes indeed, 20 gauge buckshot can be an effective deer hunting round within its range. Here is an example of how buckshot is used in thick cover Southern deer hunting.

Forward to frame 3:20 for the pellet strike, this time with 3 inch Federal #2B:

By happy coincidence, that looks like a better HD load than 00 would have been, provided it penetrates at least 12" in gel...

If you want to use BK and slugs get a 12br as ammo selection is better than cereal at isle in the supermarket. I own old 20ga double-triggered Beretta O/U choked 1/2over1/4 with weight of just over 5.5lb. For bunnies, squirrels, little birds I would want nothing else but for defensive use I would not pick ANY 20ga. That goes for beginners as lighter 12ga with light loads which are common (available even in 2" and 2.5" length) are far better choice than 20ga.
