Posted from old threads started by RogersPrecision. I do not know if he still does work, and just does not post here anymore, but I always admired his work. No telling what these cost, but they are gorgeous, and some examples of high end 1911s like we talked about in the other thread. (It was closed down so let's be nice here.) :)

Anyone have some high end pistols they would care to share pics of? 1911s or otherwise?

Love to admire great work.

Yes he still works... His books are closed right now though..

As I said to my tailor: those are nice threads!

Definitely some spectacular symmetry in steel going on with those 1911s!

Thanks for posting!

I have made Rogers Precision pictures my "desktop wallpaper" on several occasions. They're absolutely gorgeous.

ETA: Personally, I a huge fan of the Clark Custom Meltdown that @WC145 posts now and again. It can be found at post number 9 here: https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/new-1911-picture-thread.788083/
Wow, thanks Spats, that's high praise considering the caliber of guns and gunsmiths we're talking about. Unlike the Bob-Cat, I still have the Meltdown, in fact, Joe Chambers put a new gold bead front sight on it last year.

And, if anyone is interested, this is (was?) the Behlert Bob-Cat, not beautiful in the aesthetic sense but a great example of Austin Behlert's gunsmithing skills.

I had to get out of there before I did something stupid

There does come a point when, unless you are independently wealthy and your kids are wearing new Buster Browns, thousands of extra bucks expended becomes a quick road to diminishing returns for what you pay-or doing something monumentally stupid.

Clearly, I'm not alone.
Yep, a real beauty.
That one always makes me drool also. Beautiful.
That Meltdown looks like Salvador Dali had a hand in it's design. lol

Beautiful gun!

Give me a break!!!! how many people have x number of mediocre _______ and/or x number of ______.? choosing quantity over quality.

i.e. claiming Combat Accuracy" as in "I put a hole in my B-27". Whereas other people may be seeking a 400-20x.

We are not talking about $100,000.00 to 1 Million dollar guns!

Any one with a desire that isn't making min wage could likely save for these.

What's it made of ....solid platinum?

Gotta go out of this planet we call Earth... They were made from a meteorite.

After watching a young man on Youtube attempt to forge some.. I am not so sure they are even shootable:eek:

Seems like you could make some really neat pistol grips or knife handles out of that material, but I never thought trying to make the frame and slide out of it was a good idea.

Ahh....Rare material roughly rendered into a classic design... now just wait for someone with lots of money looking for the unusual. Not how I roll. I'd rather own a plain jane RIA. But hey, If gifted with such a piece I would graciously accept and then seek a buyer.

Yeah, when we're comparing a Burton pistol with, say a Ruger, we kind of are in terms of relative affordability for most people (at least the ones I hang out with).

True. But that same guy could also buy a Bentley if he had enough desire to do so. Question becomes, what's it really worth to you? Only the individual can answer that question. For me, as an individual, it would be stupid in the extreme. For you, well only you can answer that question. But, if your answer is I have the desire and I want one, my question is: do you have one? And, if not, why not?
