.22 Speedloaders

HKS offers some. I have one for a K frame .22. Never use it as the cartridges don't have enough mass to drop in cleanly like on a centerfire and wind up seating them by hand anyhow.

Here is my method.

ammo is in moon clips on strong side of belt buckle

Hit the cylinder release with strong hand (right) thumb as revolver pointed skyward.

Left hand middle finger pushes out cylinder

hit ejector rod with heart of left hand.

point revolver towards ground and bring close to waist level as left hand plucks reload from belt and inserts same in cylinder

Close cylinder and begin trigger pull on way to target.

I have used the strong hand reload as preferred by Jerry Micklek and altho Jerry is my hero I am slightly slower using his method.

.22 Speedloaders

I bought a S&W 617 10 shot a few years back to use in my local clubs' pin shooting competition. I quickly learned that I needed a speedloader for it to reduce the time to load. We shoot until a certain time each night and the quicker you can load, the more people get to shoot. I looked for years for a ten shot loader and then decided I could make it myself.

If you just want to practice just reloading, try loading five empties and one live round. Fire your shot, reload from your speed loader, then fire one shot. You'll get to practice a lot without much ammo. Do this alone...it'll drive your buddies crazy...unless there is a little friendly competition going. Its more fun shooting but reloading fast is a good skill to have!

DS...

those are cool! I wanted to build my own speedloaders too. Guess I need to step up to the plate and do it now.

thanks
