Greetings everyone!! This is my first post after reading The High Road for many years and getting tons of valuable information. Thank you all! I have a question about a Ruger Speed Six I bought about twenty years ago in a gun shop in Merced, California. It was used but not much and the price was okay. After owning it and shooting it for this long I would call it the bargain of the century! The question I have is about the grips which came on it and which it still wears. They appear to be Pachmayer Grippers but more nicely made. They have little silver colored discs with the Ruger logo on them so I believe them to be original from the factory and fit my hands very well. I have never seen another set of these in a picture or in person. I was wondering If any one here has any of these or any knowledge of them and what their oponion of them is. Thank you in advance for any info you have.

Finger grooves? If so they might be Sile Grips. If not they’re probably made by pachmayr, but not branded. Have you taken them off to see if there’s a manufacturer listed on the innards of the grips?

You fellows are smart to have such grips on your Speed Sixes. I had the misfortune of firing a few rounds of stout 158gr SJHP through a Speed Six with the original skimpy wood grip panels that leave both the front and back straps exposed to transfer the vibration to your hand. Unpleasant!

Is the back of the grip frame exposed or covered?

Is there a cutout on the bottom for the serial #?
It may have a manufacturer ID there.

"Back in the day" we used to quip that when Bill Ruger went into the gun business, he bought one tree to use to make grips...and he was still using it. ;)

I shot Ruger's back in those days, and the first thing I did was take those awful grips off and add a set of Pachmayr Grippers. I never even tried to shoot 38 wadcutters with those factory splinters.

To the OP. No idea what you might have there Buddy, but you've got a good gun. I know that much.

I have those grips on my Speed Six. Also have them on the wife's Security Six, though I had to round off the metal corners underneath to fit them. Easy process and it fits her hand perfectly. I got mine when Ruger had a close out sale on them. They have Ruger medallions.
