Ok, so here it is after long last. I've had my 1911A1 Milspec for over a month now, I think, and FINALLY got to the range to break her in.

Only put about 250 rounds through her, using the two factory mags and four of my Chip McCormick Shooting Star mags.

Of the loads, about 150 were 200gr flat point lead handloads, and 100 were 230gr ball remanufactured loads.

ALL fed great. Not a single functional hitch.

Accuracy: Firing right handed, supported, the POI was about 2 inches left and 2-3 inches low at 7 yards. Shooting with my left hand, unsupported, it was dead on. What's up with that? I also took my .357 and was firing it quite well, so I don't know what I was doing wrong.

The trigger broke clean after a little take up, but it's not bad at all. What was bad about it, was the vertical serrations leave the edges of the trigger are a bit sharp. It started to bug my finger a bit. (suggestions on a replacement trigger are welcome. Parkerized or blued finish preferred... I want to maintain the 'milspec' look as much as possible)

All in all, I am VERY VERY pleased with my Springfield 1911A1 Milspec.

Very cool!

I don't have alot of experience w/ triggers, hopefully someone w/ more experience with them will chime in.

Shooter not the gun

Hey Guy, Low and left is a fairly common problem with a new gun/new shooter. Generally it is cause by flinching or using too much finger on the trigger.
It possible that this is the problem. Weak hand accuracy is easy to explain. If alot harder to shoot much this hold the gun weak hand. The trigger is generally more of a surprise when shooting weak due to the concentration on holding the gun steady and watching the front sight.

Have someone else shoot the gun for you to see how it shoots for them.

Just picked up my third this weekend. Unfortunaly this one has the thicker front strap but at 300 bucks I couldn't pass it up. This one will stay stock sans the new thin mahogany grips I han in a box that I threw on.

I have an SA Mil-spec in .38 Super, and it is a fine pistol - totally reliable, and quite accurate. I've added a 9x23 barrel to it, and will probably get a 9mm barrel as well.

My Springfield 1911-A1 Milspec

I, too, just purchased a Springfield 1911-A1 Milspec -- less than a week ago.

I have put about 150 rounds through mine - and it is simply awesome!! Not a single malfunction, and it is very accurate.

I plan to use it for CCW -- I am going to have the trigger worked on a bit, but it is pretty good as-is. I think I will also replace the black plastic grips that came with it.

I assume you paid $300 for a USED Milspec - right? If you got it for that price NIB, I seriously got ripped off!

I'm sure you will enjoy it - so far, I have certainly enjoyed mine (BTW, this is my first 1911, and .45).
