I have the parkerized sibling to this gun.
I'll be honest I'm really not a 1911 guy. This is the only single action upchuckin' bottom feeder I have. I'm all about the DAO polymer gun or double action revolver for serious personal protection, but it's nice to have a 1911 because it's completely different from everything else I've ever had. But you know what, if a through and through 1911 guy and a revolver/poly gun guy can agree on the same model, I'd say that's a pretty good indication the Springer has a little something for everybody.
I really don't want another one, save perhaps for a stainless version of this, or something close. However, with prices the way they are now, I don't think that's gonna happen, and every time I get that itch I just shoot two magazines through this one and the itch goes away.
But if I ever gave this one up, I'd replace it with the very model our poster here just acquired.
Is it a "real" 1911, whatever that means? Heck naw. Colts are nice and I reckon you should get a Colt if you can afford and find one, but I don't lose one wink of sleep with a Springfield.
Is it all the 1911 you could ever actually need? I think so, I'm gonna keep it. I keep hearing 1911 horror stories but mine works purty good, apparently I got one of the good ones somehow. One of these days I'll attain my goal of having an XD45, a 625, a 1911, a Glock 30, and a Sig 220 and I'll have the five .45 caliber pistols that will scratch my every itch. If I get more after that it'll be revolvers.
And don't worry I have some grown up grips too.
