Last week at the range, I thought I was pushing the trigger, as my shots grouped to the left of center. I didn't notice that one of the roll pins in my Novak cut, Springfield installed, adjustable rear sight had broken. This makes 3 for 3 if we include ChuckB's 2 broken sights on his Loaded. I would send it back to SA, but what would I do with another sight I know is going to break? For now I'll stick with the original Novak sight I reinstalled.
BTW, judging by my box of spent brass, the sight had about 12,000 rds on it before it broke.

Mr. fedlaw is not alone. As he stated, I had two S.A. adjustables break on me- one of the pivot roll pins would snap. Why they don't use a solid pin escapes me. I know that S.A. doesn't make the sights, and I followed a thread on similar problems with rears on Colt 1911's. I fixed my most recent break with a wire nail driven into the hole, then I clipped the ends. I don't think it will ever break now, but we shouldn't have to resort to such machinations. Any suggestions out there for a SOLID adjustable rear 1911 sight for a S.A. cut?

I don't have a springfield but I have a kimber. I went with a bo-mar rear adjustable sight and it works great. They make one that replaces the springfield adjustable rear. (Edit) I just reread your post and saw you have a novak cut so this won't work. http://www.bo-mar.com/kevi_003.htm Mark
