In order for me to consider it a battle rifle it needs to have the ability to do actual military service. So if you want a 7.62 NATO battle rifle of modern manufacture you can choose from Knights Armament Co, Lewis Machine and Tool, or Heckler and Koch. Those 3 companies seem to be the only ones winning contracts for military 7.62 NATO rifles and carbines these days, so I guess they’re the only ones who have figured out how to make their guns work right all the time.
Of those three options the Knights Armament Co. SR-25 enhanced combat carbine is the lightest and most like a general issue “battle rifle”.
