Have 9mm autos, 38 and .357 revolvers, but nothing beginning with a "4".

Any reason to NOT get this gun? Seems pretty solid, magazine writers like it, how about those that actually own it and shoot it?

Thanks, folks.

I love my 9MM (I know you mentined 40), However it was a jam a minute with Hollowpoints my 9MM.
Rather than send it back I polished the feed ramp to a mirror finish and then polished the breechface. It now shoots great and seems to be 100% reliable now. I did not want to send in the gun for repair and be without it for 3 weeks, and after reading about the problems this was a simple solution I could handle. The gun is very accurate gun for its size, you will be happy with that part.
On the EMP 40's like you want, the recoil spring is like super hard and I mean extremely hard to work (google it). Heres my 9 MM.
Also the gun needs about 500 rounds thru it to break it in, be ready for jams when its new and the ramp not polished.

I handled one and decided against it...so my EMP 9mm remains my EDC

The steel frame really makes a big difference in weight for carry and the only upside I could see was that it was easier to weld the tangs up to fit the grip safety correctly

I have the 40 and it is my favorite carry and range gun. While it isn't light, it is short and flat. A good belt and holster make it pleasant to carry. I'm more accurate with it than my xd45 and I don't find it at all unpleasant to shoot. My opinion may change one day when I get my kobra carry (but that will be a while).

While the EMP is my most carried gun, it is both wider and taller than the Kahr. Even the alloy framed model is heavier than the P/CW models from Kahr...plus it isn't anymore accurate or faster to shoot accurately.

Here is a size comparison between the 9mm models

a great value indeed.....which is why I keep drooling over them until one day I finally pull the trigger and put one in my safe!

Have the 9. Absolutely love it. The 40 is sweet too, but as previously mentioned, too heavy for my taste as an EDC.

I have a SA Micro Compact 45 which appears to be quite similar to the EMP.
It's been great. Fun to shoot and pretty accurate. Rock solid too.
Good luck!

Thanks, guys. Found one semi-local at something a fair bit south of $1100. Given $1200 or better at LGS's, if you can find one, I thought it was a nice deal and a nice car ride to go pick her up. Hope to take her to the range in the next day or two.

Also, thanks, Skylerbone, for the tip on log man's magazine rebuild. I'll be moving a mag or two his way shortly.

EMP 9mm fanboy as well. Mine is very new, <300 rnds, but only had one stovepipe which I believe to be due to limp wristing. Otherwise no issues. One thing interesting, my EMP doesn't like Speer Gold dots as much as FMJ in the accuracy dept, I'm gonna try some Hornady Critical defense and report back if people are interested.

I have a 9MM EMP, and it is a great gun. Its fit and finish is very, very good. Certainly in line with the price.

I carried a Kahr CW9 for a couple of years and I shot it a bunch. I find my EMP 9mm much more "shootable" in the speed and accuracy department. Then again, if one compared an EMP 40 to a Kahr 9mm that could change.

Mine has run from round one. The only trouble it has ever given was with some fat reloads.

Not a problem I encountered, here is what mine looked like...after a couple of hundred rounds

The only problem I had with mine was a bit of hesitation when closing the slide slowly which remained even after 1000 rounds. It wasn't critical, but the factory was willing to clean it up for me on their dime.

The only thing I've changed out so far replacing the thumb safety with a single sided one. The next upgrade is getting ride of the rear night sights, I currently have them blacked out
