I'm sure someone has asked this question before but...

Does anyone know if there is a problem using Wolf ammo (steel case) in any 9mm, or specifically, a Springfield XDM 9mm? Does the steel case damage the gun in any way?

Thanks in advance!

No damage to the gun, but for cheap steel-case 9mm I prefer Brown Bear, it is more accurate than Wolf and cleaner.

Buy it and shoot it!

Not in the gun...but wolf 9mm has had some feed and stacking problems in my XD9's (more in the older 15 rd mags than the newer 16's) the gun likes it fine but the polmer coated bullets sometimes don't stack right for some reason and occassionally plug up in the mag....load it back with any brass cased ammo and it will run all day clean or dirty....doesn't happen a lot...but it happens enough it might offer some good clearance and mag change drills. I still shoot it on occassion when it's cheap. NEVER carry it for anything though....that's what premium HP ammo is for anyway...especially in 9mm!!

Wolf and Brown Bear are fine for practice ammo. The steel is quite soft, feel free to compare the hardness of a fired steel case to a fired brass case with a pair of pliers/vice grips to assure yourself.

Our (mostly MrsBFD's) XD eats steel-case happily, some people worry about extractor/ejector damage, but worst-case would be needing to replace those parts after a LOT of shooting. Steel Case ammo (if you find it cheap) is a winner for the non-reloader or if you are just leaving your spent casings behind.
