A little background first. This pistol was purchased because I decided to switch from a semi custom 1911 for USPSa and steel challenge to carry optics. ( My not young any more eyes are having issues finding the front sight). This pistol comes with a Vortex Viper red dot installed from the factory. First thing I did was change the trigger out for a Powder river competition trigger group. Accuracy is very good with 122gr poly coated round nose bullets from Acme @ 1000fps, gets 1.5 to 2 inch groups at 30 yards. It has not jammed once in the 5000 or so rounds I have put through it in the last 5 months. I have tried several different types of bullets and all feed without issue. Only issue I have had with this pistol is the vortex red dot sight. It is now on its way back for repair for the second time. I replaced it with a FF3. When it get back will be put on a 22 rifel.

Glad you like your new toy. I recently picked up a XD Mod.2 Tactical model on the cheap and enjoy it a great deal. Gave up the RD mounting to get the newer grip (and a killer price).
I have both a Vortex Venom and a FF3. From what I can tell they are made in the same factory. My Venom has survived riding my P10C's slide. I've not tried the Viper, perhaps it differs.
