Need a couple opinions on what to do with an XDs in .45 acp.
Long story short, someone owes me some money and has offered an un-recalled XDs in partial trade. I already have one in .45 and one in 9mm, and happy enough with both.
The offered gun has not had the grip safety issue recall done. As a Gen 1, mfg date would have been like 2012 or 2013.
What would you consider a value on it, considering it’s 9 years old, used, safety not fixed, so I’m also going to have to take the time to do that before I can even trade it off, since it’s really only trade fodder for me?

I have an XDs that never really grew on me. I figure isn't worth much at all as I paid less than 300 from one of the liquidators years ago.
So it sits in the safe.

I think that tarosean has provided a good ceiling. After thinking about it, assuming at least VG condition, I would hazard a guess of ~$225-250.

HTH

That said, I have to wonder what the current all-things-firearms-pricing-insanity might have on regular/normal market pricing logic.

=====

I bought my .45acp XDs in Aug'13 for $475, which was a good price at the time. I took possession of it a week before we all found out about them having to be sent back to the MotherShip for The Fix. <chuckle> Finally sent it in Feb(?)'14 after the initial Surge had calmed and the TurnAround had dropped to about a week.

In Aug'19 I quickly responded to a Cabela's ad for a $350:what: .45acp XDs Mod2. When I went to pick it up, I discovered that it included a Tritium Front Sight. Sweet! I also, separately, took Springfield Armory up on the free Goodies Package, much like the one that we got with the original.

I am in the group that considers the SA choice of the pineapple grande grip treatment on the XDs to be, um, "unfortunate".

IMO, the grip treatment on the XDs Mod2 is Just Right. The Mod2 is the pistol that I am carrying most of the time. :)
