Square Deal B - good powders and bad

I have a Dillon Square Deal- B and load a variety of calibers on it. I usually use Accurate #9, WSF, and HS-6, and have had pretty good results. I have loaded hundreds in a session without problems, and the loads have been accurate (within plus or minus 1/10 grain)

I started loading for .45 ACP and tried some Accurate #7. The results have been poor. The powder charges have been very inconsistent. From + 1/10 grain to little, very little and none. I took the powder hopper off, dumped the powder and cleaned the hopper, and got the same poor results. I did notice that the press cylced a little harder on some strokes than others. So I'm guessing that the powder is jamming the powder dies somewhat.

After some searching I see that some presses have problems with certain types of powders. I suspect that's the issue here. Is there a source that tells me what type each powder is? Is there a way to know what powders my press will like and which ones to not bother to even try?

I use 231 with my SD B and it throws perfect charges each time for 45 acp.

I've tried a variety of powders and had good consistent throws with them. I had a problem with Unique when I first started reloading, and now with AA#7.

I've tried 231 before but not with .45's.

I'm trying to figure out if it's certain types of powders, or maybe a combination of a powder and low or high powder charges or something else completely.

AA #2 will pour like water through any powder measure. Any small flake powder should do well also. W231 etc.

I have put a few lbs of #7 thru mine with no issues. You say that #9 works OK? I think they are about the same consistency, aren't they?

Bridging With N110

I had a powder bridging problem with VV N110 while loading .44 Mags in my Square Deal B. I discovered it by accident. Noticed an empty case in the bullet seating station. Removed the case, and cycled the press again. No powder in the next case. Ended up weighing 50 or so rounds to make sure ammo already loaded wasn't double charged, or without powder -- all were ok. Had to remove powder measure to clear "log jam". The obstruction was in the powder measure drop tube, not the expander.
