Stainless Slide for Glock, where to buy complete?

I've seen official Glock stainless slides, but they are exceedingly difficult to find if it isn't already on the gun you're buying. I have only been able to find aftermarket ones by third party manufacturers and they come devoid of sights and other necessaries. My questions are:

1) Is there anywhere, Glock or otherwise, where I can buy a stainless slide which is ready to go, and can just be popped on without the fuss of contacting a gunsmith and re-zeroing the iron sights?

2) Where the heck can I find one for a reasonable price which isn't covered in a bunch of other fancy garbage? I don't like the angled side grips or the ports above the barrel, and I absolutely do not want one with some stupid Punisher logo on it or other such nonsense.

3) Am I setting myself up for failure by holding out hope that I'll get one which I just have to pull the old slide off, pop the old barrel and recoil spring into the new one, and slap it on?

The Glock standard Tenifer finished slide is more corrosion & wear resistant then a Stainless slide would be.

If a stainless slide is only for the Bling factor?

Yeah, admittedly it's more an aesthetic decision. I thought most of the SS ones were comparable in terms of durability. I'd trust the ones by Glock because they know what they're doing, not sure about the 3rd party types though. I just like them, but if they're less durable then that just reaffirms my desire to have one all put together that I can just swap out with the original slide so it's less work. Does Glock do special orders for this sort of thing or do they even make them anymore?

I agree, I think the OP is mistaken about seeing stainless Glock slides. I think he may have seen the FailZero Glocks. FailZero is a finish, not stainless.

Last year Talo put out a nickle plated series of Glocks.Barrel and slide were plated.I scored a G21 with such a slide.They dissapeared in the Panic of '12.

I suspect a Tenifer-finished slide IS more wear-resistant, but don't know about corrosion. Tenifer is a surface hardening treatment, used not just by Glock, but by other industries, too.

I don't know about it being more corrosion-resistant than stainless or metals that have been finished/plated. I've not had problems with any gun except some "blued" guns.

A couple of sites suggest that a slide that has a Tenifer (or Tenifer-like) treatment can't be refinished or plated. Don't know if that's true -- but know that the hardening treatment is more than just a superficial surface application. You might use one of the super-hard paints (like Duracoat), or one of the new space-age coatings (like NP3) to change the color.

I do know that while Tenifer finishes don't seem to rust much, they do begin to show a lot of surface wear and blemishes -- they just look kind of worn -- from holster wear and use. That is the dark coating applied as part of Tenifer finish, a byproduct, so to speak. It shows wear, but the metal beneath stays well hardened. I don't have the sort of acid sweat that a few folks have, and my environment isn't very, very humid, so I don't see a lot of rush on anything I own or carry.

The only reason I've ever seen that really justified a stainless slide was when they wanted to bury an adjustable rear sight into it and contour the slide a bit...the stainless was a lot softer and easier to machine

There are a few Stainless Steels that are heat treatable and as hard as carbon steel. 400c and 17-4ph are a few that come to mind.
