Stainless steel pins?

On the subject of pins being magnetic, my personal technique isn't aided by magnetic pins. I use a rotary media separator and the pins fall out of the rotary basket inside the separator. No need for magnetism. I think mine are actually magnetic, but I've never used a magnet for any brass cleaning procedures.

I use the separator as well, generally with enough water in it that the bottom of the basket is submerged so it's a final rinse as well.

Sooner or later a few will get away from you and unless you have the hands of a 4 year old a magnet helps pick them up.

Mine are stored dry, just placed into an open container until they air dry, then baggies a few days later- if I remember.

Those rotary separators look nice, I don't have one.

When not in use are you guys storing your pins wet in water or do you allow them to dry?

I store them in the tumbler with whatever small amount of water that was on them. They never dry out with the lid on.

Dawn will strip ALL oils as well as dirt from the brass. You will have to lube in order to resize and bell without friction.

If you use a cash wash and wax (I use Armor All Wash and Wax with Carnuba), it not only cleans, it leaves a microscopic coating of wax. This makes the inside and outside of the case slightly more lubricated. Makes sizing and belling much easier, especially on a progressive.

Plus, as mentioned earlier, they retain their shine for a long time.

I also subscribe to the 80% rule. 80% brass to pins, fill with water, add cleaner and Lemi Shine to your specs.
