steel cases are generally gray-ish or greenish. They coat the steel in laquer or polymer to keep it from rusting.

nickel cases are bright and shiny. like chrome.

a good magnet is your friend, and cursed be all brass coated steel cased ammo!

Your post only shows your like of knowage. I only answer true questions not someone questioning my ward. Powder I use the most can no longer be found but from what I have seen Blue Dot is the closest match. If you really want an answer dig through my old post & you can find the answer.

You'll understand if I'm more inclined to laugh at than be insulted by this remark.

Oh, I really would like to know. I'd love to load .223 for $0.08/rd. I'm sure everyone else would, too.

So you use a pistol/shotgun powder in .223? Please, answer my question soon, for I fear you may not be around to do so for very long with this kind of practice.

higgite,
Nickel is indeed ferromagnetic. But, unless you have an extremely strong magnet, you won't attract a nickel plated cartridge case.

It is pull down from 50cal but there is no point in trashing this thread any more.

Amen to that. give the flaming a rest, keep the thread on track. there are folks that subload 223 with blue dot. it's not perfect, but it can be done. you use around 10 grains.

and if you buy old surplus bullets and powder and get the right deal you can keep costs. down.
