I have an old stevens .22/410 with a Tenite stock. I have had the gun for 40+ years, and it has taken countless snowshoe rabbits and grouse. My old eyes will not let me see the iron sights too well anymore, and I was wondering does any one make a "no gunsmith" scope mount that I can put on this gun. This gun does not have a grooved barrel for a 22 mount like the later Savage guns. I was looking to put a low powered scope or red dot sight on this gun. If you know of such a mount, please direct me so that I may obtain one. Thanks THR.

I don't know of one off the top of my head. But take a look at the top of the receiver/barrel. If its straight you can try gluing a rail on top with Black Max Loctite adhesive. It holds and allows a scope to be mounted. Best thing you can remove it with a heat gun. Good luck.

Black Max is terrific stuff, but this is NOT an application worthy of its abilities/properties. Might last a couple or a score of shots, but no more.

Thanks for the replies. I was told that an air gun scope mount might work so I am going to check that out.

Might be able to conjure up a side mount off the receiver on the left face to position the scope over the bore line. Would take a bit measuring and then a couple of tapped holes in the receiver.

Don't think that will work due to the break action. The scope would have to be a off-set so the action can be broke.

I have a B Square for my Ruger MKII that clamps down over the top of the barrel and reciever. You could fashion a similar one to accept a rail on top that clamped over both barrels at the chamber area. Then mount rail on top. Drilling and tapping by a Gunsmith would work. I have one in 22MAG tapped this way I purchased already done.

I recently bought a Air rifle scope mount that clamps to the barrel. I will need to modify the mount some to fit a .22 barrel but I think it will work. the mount will have to be forward of the hinge point of the action, so a long eye relief scope may be required. I am thinking of a red dot sight now, as that would be good for use with the rifle and the shot gun barrel.
