I just can't see spending $55 for five shell.
Will a Win 3" #7.5 lead do ?

I would use #6 shot or even #4 shot. I have taken plenty of turkeys in my youth with my dad's old Montgomery Ward single shot 410 with a full choke. All I ever used back then was 3" Winchester Super X #6 shot.

I know 410 shells are expensive and hard to find, but I suggest patterning some 3" #4 shot and 3" #6 shot in your gun.

Bravo makes a good point, you need to know where your lead is going when results are needed.

I don’t think using a 410 is a great idea without using the tss shot. If you are going to try anyway, pattern the gun.I doubt you will be able to shoot past 15-20 yards and still have a good pattern for a Turkey. Not saying it won’t work, just sounds iffy.
410s for Turkey are becoming more popular BECAUSE of the tss loads.

While one should not take a long distance shot with a 410 like down with a 12 gauge, the 410 has taken a lot of turkeys over the years. The pellets out of a 410 shell are still moving at the same speed as out of a 12 gauge, you just have less shot.

The trick is using a full choke, 3" shells and most importantly patterning the shotgun. One of my preferred factory loads is #6 shot Winchester 3" Super X and I have taken my share of turkeys with it using my did's old single shot (as a kid) and with my 410 Mossberg 500 with full choke.

I bought one that has only been fired at the range. I discovered my 11 year old son didn’t seem to love shooting the 12 g and missed an easy shot with it last year. I put a Vortex Venom red dot sight on the top and it should be very fun and accurate to shoot. Hopefully my son gets a few birds with it before my daughter is old enough to use it. The price of those heavy metal shells are enough to keep me using the 12.
