found one at an exceptional price.....BUT wondering about all you sbs owners,
i want the pro-cons...goods-bads before i take the plunge. i want details!!

Mine is my favorite rifle. Pros:

- unique -- not many folks have a real Austrian Steyr
- highly accurate
- very light
- Safe Bolt System is nice when lugging through the woods
- smooth action
- free floated from the factory

Cons:
- safety is plastic wheel
- stock fore end can be flimsy

I pretty much would list things just as Richard.Howe did. Only adding an excellent trigger to the pro list.

A con to me is bolt handle shape. Though when locked down it makes for a slicker handling package.

I like the three position safety, but it can be loud when clicked off for hunting.

My SBS is my most accurate centerfire rifle. Though a couple of Remington 700 VS's would have give it a run for the money.

Heck, buy it.

The best

Best production rifle for the money. I live in Washington in the middle of the rain forest (rains like 200 days of the year) and the steyr performe great with all the harsh wet weather I put it through. The action is tight and will not freeze up on you in the extreme cold and the trigger is one of the best I have used in production rifles.

I like mine, but , the SBS allows the firing pin to release when I first picked it up and was figiditing with the safety. My natural hold put light pressure on the trigger and I rolled the safety foward and -snap- the firing pin fell. Yeah, I know the safety rules, but it was NIB- well just out of the box and I didn't even have any reloading dies in the house yet. I still like it alot, just wanting to see what a 270 gr will do to a piggy. Yeah, I HAD to get the 375 styer, been wanting one since they came out- but finally got around to it. MAKE sure to get an extra mag- I am having quite a time finding an extra
