I've read the NRA Highpower rules - seems to me that there are no restrictions on stock hardware, provided the profile of the weapon is maintained within spec... is this correct?

I was thinking about having a bipod mount installed when my stock is made - just don't want to affect my SR eligibility.

Anyone have stock hardware recommendations?

Sven,
As long as the mount does not alter the external appearance of the rifle/stock, then it should be okay. If you're drilling and mounting a stud, then that would be considered an external modification. Even an extra hole in the fore end might not withstand challenge.

Of course you could always try to track down an original M14 Bipod that attaches by clamping to the gas system/barrel, but be prepared to pay big bucks.

I was about to suggest having a mount made for an m-16 bipod, like whaat's on my dad's gun, but i guess that's out, too.

Yes, anything but original stock parts will be considered an external modification.

Once you start shooting the game seriously, you begine to understand the "spirit of the rules."
